That was a revelation! According to that, Honda are still the majority shareholders of Brawn GP!! Maybe soon we'll see Honda logos on the Brawn cars :D

Unbelievable ! What a farce . Yet I think that with Honda engines Brawn would not be performing as well as it is doing now . So Honda should wait for Brawn to win the championship sell the shares and make a neat profit . Guess Honda will have the last laugh . I dont believe that Honda badged Merc engines will power Brawn in the future .

You're right. The Merc engines are quite strong.

As for selling the shares, that is an option but Honda could have made more money if they had not sold those 89 shares to RB. I think Honda were forced to pull out due to insufficient finances but they did leave themselves room to manouver back in. Smart move under the circumstances then.

Now Honda really should try and get their logos on the car. It would be worth all the initial screwing up if they got a Honda logo on the BGP car ASAP. Who cares if its no longer Honda? The advertising value would still be awesome if it was called Honda Brawn Grand Prix!

more than the engines and all, brawn gave over ownership to Ross Brawn, and also paid him an amount that they will have to pay the employees as severance pay. Im guessing thats the reason the majority holding is still honda.
But folks 111 shares is hardly something that will be traded in the stock market!

Pretty smart move on Honda's part..... besides, why would they want to have a 'Honda Brawn GP' running with a 'Mercedes' engine? It would send a wrong signal that Honda had to rely on another manufacturer for engines?

The team saved money and even has greater chances of winning the title. Isn't this a win-win situation?

Not really for Honda. Atleast not from a branding point of view. Most people who watch F1 are educated enough to know what engine and transmission is actually running inside the car. Honda will quickly become the butt of all jokes in F1 circles if they put a big H on that car.

Of course, as majority shareholder, they may get the lion's share of the prize money, but that is a different story.

I really don't understand why did Honda pulled out of F1 ? they are better financed ? maybe Ferrari should have pulled out of F1 since fiat group stands nowhere in Top 10 in auto sales.

Honda's have already made fool of themselves when Mercedes powered Brawn car was making headlines, it all pointed to one thing Honda cannot make a competitive F1 engine. it will be more shameful to have Honda badge on Mercedes powered F1 car.

Brawn's success has more to do with the chassis and aerodynamic design than the engine. Or else the Mclaren team would have been right there with the Brawns.

Actually no, its rather the opposite. The Merc engine is top class (even the Mclarens and Force Indias set good top speeds at speed traps and are not too bad in slow sections where the engine and mechanical grip count). It looks like their aero failed McLaren big time.
