and did it race in the mHawk engine? or was it a different engine? I'm happy on its international success. Hope it can bank on that further for better international sales.

Congrats Mahindra! Never knew the getaway was such a good vehicle off-road

We all know its not great for extreme offroading, but it can take a real beating on rough roads and still keep going, it's not built like a tank or anything, but it will do its job without asking for praise and adulation.

It has to be the mHawk engine. The interesting amount of low end torque it can put out, along with the rugged build will help in in dirt tracks, which is probably the terrain it had to deal with(based on some of the pics of the event)

I really fancied the double cab mahindra pick up with bull bars. But indeed it was very heartening to know that it achieved the feat with its stock configuration. Anyone fancy that 220 litres fuel tank added to it ? Wonder how much distance can it cover in one go. I think all the 29 vehicles to finished the race should be commended. But it's not 50% of those participated. I wish Mahindra's good luck in the Dakar rally if they do participate.

Default Mahindra Sertoes Rally (M&M in Action in Brazil)

Mahindra Sertoes Rally

Indian utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra just got a shot in the arm when one of its Scorpio pick-ups did the unthinkable - take third place in the production category of the tough Rally dos Sertoes in Brazil, racing against the might of the Mitsubishis, Fords and Chevrolets.

What is most heartening about this result was that it wasn't a planned event or even a factory effort but the initiative of long time Brazilian motoring enthusiast Ricardo Augusto de Souza Campos, better known in the South American motor sport fraternity simply as Rasc.

How come M&M draws a blank on home turf?

You may want to add that the pics are taken from the zigwheels site.

well lets not get carried away by the success of the father and son duo on a MM scorpio truck!

remember there was no support from the MM officially, none at all!

the success was all because of the hard work of the duo and ofcourse the vehicle used was not stock vehicle as manufactured by MM, it was rally prepared and must have made changes to its mechanical as well as other parts too, which im sure must have been done very professionally. the white colour roll cage visible in the cabin proves that!

was this a diesel engine vehicle or E10 and petrol combination? brazil uses a lot of E10 fuel (ethenol)?

+1 for the hard work of the father-son due to which they were able to achieve this but lets also not take the credit completely away from the build quality of the Mahindra's, after all, the all of 60 vehicles participating must have been altered/modified to suit the rally specifications. Many of which were not able to hold it through the rally including some of Ford's, Chevrolet, etc.
I guess finishing the rally in itself was an achievement!!
