I don't know which role I will be assigned yet. It should be announced by the end of the month. Whatever it is, I'm totally looking forward to it!
Whoaaa..that is a hell of a job. And we thought only the driving and the mechanics were complicated. Imagine communicationg without walky-talkies.

Of course! Once I know which part of the track I'm on, I will let you guys know. We are allowed to take short breaks and I hope I can meet you during one of them.

By the way, if you're in Singapore on Thursday evening, don't miss the FIA Speed Test when the Safety and Medical cars lap the tracks. There are normally two fences seperating the crowd from the track but for the speed test, there is only one fence. So you can get very close to the action. And, we're on duty (its a marshalling systems check as well) so perhaps I can see you after the test!

Unfortunately, I'll reach SGP only on friday morning.
Could you give some details of the application and selection process? With F1 coming to India next year, many of us would want to give a shot.

Awesome!!! See you there buddy.
Btw, do you get a view of the pits from your location. From the map, its parallel to the start finish lane, but don't know if there will be obstructions.
Also, is it possible to walk all the way through Zones 1 & 2?

What better way to be a part of the action than to be on track? Have fun, be safe.
Hope Lewis wins.

On another note, there are loads of tickets still available for the race, for those interested; and tickets to Singapore on Tiger are in the range of 10k, so I'm getting tempted. Are there any TBHPians going apart from Jaguar?

The pits cannot be seen from T5. As for walking between zones, I don't know. I think the premier walkabout tickets allow you to but I'm not sure.

Chaostheory and RFI , thanks for the wishes

Just over two weeks to go before the real thing. Here's a pic from our shakedown event. This was the Singapore Touring Car Championship round held in Malaysia last weekend. It was a very low key event with virtually no media coverage which meant that this was the place to try everything, make mistakes and get ourselves sorted. Also it gave us a feel of what its like marshalling a real race. In addition, we had a few simulation races with cars being driven by FIA officials and making deliberate mistakes on track to test our reactions. And that concludes our training phase. Next up: Marshalling the F1 cars!!!

For now, no other pics. I'm pretty hard to pin-point in this one since I'm standing near the back of the crowd.

All the best McLaren for the big day!

If any driver retires near you, make sure ask them "Got BHP?"

I think we had five official sessions, each on a weekend. And then some unofficial meetings and discussions to iron out any problems.

This year, we've got about 800 marshals (fire, medics, track, flag, observers, pit and grid, seniors/chiefs etc.). Its one big party
