Default Newbie from Mumbai...

Hello BHPians,

A big thank you for welcoming me to this group. I have been visiting this site for a while, looking through the forums to get information and then I finally decided to apply for membership and am very glad that it was approved.

I'm Chiro, 36 yrs old and live and work in Mumbai. I drive a Pepper Grey VW Polo 1.6 which I purchased in Dec 2011, and I must say that this is one of the sweetest drives that I ever laid my hands on.

Apart from being a petrolhead (a budding one I must say), I love listening to Music (classic rock, NWOBHM et al) and gadgets (and I always wondered where my money went!!)

Will love to be a part of any Mumbai team-bhp groups / events and meet some like minded petrolheads.

Chiro

Hello Chiro! Welcome to t-bhp.
I wonder why Vw never advertised about their Polo 1.6. I had thought that Vw had only the 1.2L versions of the polo until I got to know about this.
Also may I know the fuel efficiency of your Polo?
I would be glad to read an ownership review of your 1.6L monster.
Have a nice stay here..
Keep revvin!

Welcome to "the" forum, Chiro.

I too own the same car in same avatar(color) bought in August-2011. It is one fine machine.

Have you done any mods on it? If yes, would love to know the details!

See you around.
Cheers!

Thank you for the warm welcome
Unfortunately, VW never advertised about the 1.6 and its purely a coincidence and a series of associated events which finally ended up me getting this dream car. Adding to the woes, VW has now now stopped manufacturing the 1.6 version!!!

Fuel efficiency is definitely lower than the 1.2 and under normal city driving I usually get betweek 10-11 km/l, highways its much better, between 13-14.5 km/l

I will indeed get down to writing a review and will make it available soon!

Thank you,
Chiro

A big thank you... and more to glad to hear that we have the same ride, its indeed one of the finest and fastest hatches around.
I haven't done any real mods yet, which in a way is sad as I went for the extended warranty.

The only thing I did was replace the stock headlights with the new smoked lamps, and installed the Jetta ICE system so far. Next year I plan to install a cold air intake, plus new plugs and maybe work on the suspension a bit. Think this list will keep me pretty busy

Keep in touch,
Thank you,
Chiro
