| Dear All , Let me introduce myself to all of you, I am Arun(as clear from my Id) an Automobile enthusiast & a professional Automotive designer. Well I always wanted to be an automobile designer, & the luck came calling from An indian OEM even before i finished my Auto-Engineering. As a young designer i worked 2 years in india for a well known indian OEM, then got my chance to go global. Since last seven years, i have designed for VW(for appx 1 year working on a single model which is now a succes story), last 4 years for a another well known german Auto brand as a part of design team in germany(no names disclosure as everybody knows it). Well luckily now I am back in india, for few months break at my home near delhi. I have seen a lot of enthusiasm on team BHP, members do keep it up. If some body needs guidance about automotive body design, all are welcome. I am into model making also(both scale modelling & non Scale creative autos) as a hobbyst. Hope to get to know a lot of enthusiastic people here. Cheers, Arun |

I can surely share design stories but not on the forum, for obvious confidentiality reasons. By "appreciative" you mean style?, i did some styling jobs at starting of my career, but now into core engineering design & a specialist in body engineering, major area i look is the exterior or shell design, but have worked for appx 2years for interiors also. Welcome aboard! Great to have you here!... Just a few days back i was wishing that we had more active members who were actually part of the automobile industry... and here you are. You should really start a thread and tell us everything you are legally allowed to! Starting from how you managed to land your first job, to what its like working for a large manufacturer, how much of a say you get as 1 designer in a team, etc etc etc... When you say you specialize in exterior / shell design, do you mean the look of the body panels etc, or are you involved with chassis design as well ? Tell us as much as you can, im sure it would be appreciated a lot by a lot of members here!! cya around, R | |

| Thanks Iraghava, Rehaan & every BHPian for your support, well i feel there are lot of well informed members here. In My opinion its not necessary being a professional, as experience is the biggest teacher, what is showing up in Team BHP is a proof.I find a lot of well informed people here(more informed than our jugaad engineers-(not all of them)). Well i shall start a thread shedding light on complete chain of a new vehicle development, although many of you are already well aware of the process. Well Look of exterior body panel is defined by stylist, we make the artistic depiction of stlying to reality. It includes a lot of things, from Strenght to saftey, NVH to tooling, Mechanisms to assembly, the area of engineering design is really vast. It includes safety, comfort, rigidity, visiblity, ergonomics, tooling, assembly & lot of other things. I shall try to cover everything in brief in a new thread. Ps: Rehaan, yes shell design means shape also, if design is monocoque then chassis itself is a part of shell or body.Shell means complete body in metal, with stripped of interiors & exterior non structural parts(like bumpers) Arun
