| That's the question that brought me to Team-BHP. Couple of days back, I upgraded my Chevrolet Optra's 14inch alloys with 15in ones. For tyres, I bought Michelin 195/60 R15s with asymmetric thread pattern - for Rs. 4,600 a piece. Like a true impulse purchase consumer, I have started research on asymmetric thread pattern (and its uses if any) AFTER making the purchase A little bit about myself - Name: Ashwin Iddya Age: 28 years Occupation: Search Engine Advertising Interests: I simply love travelling. We drove all the way from Bangalore to Rohtang Pass but couldn't go further because the road was snowed out. While coming back, we decided to take a different road and had a first hand experience of Madhya Pradesh's national highways! You can view the video here |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | hey smartcat welcome to team-bhp. Enjoy your stay. 4600 for michelins in 15" sound pretty decent. Although would love to know which tyres and alloys you put on preferrably with some pics.

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | 4.6k for that size is a good price & since you said Assymetrical I'm assuming you bought either Pilot Preceda or Pilot Primacy. Do update us with some pics if possible. And yeah, welcome to the forum!

| Ya, that's what I was going to say... I bought Energy XM1's (175/65R14) for my NHC for 3180 per piece. Sounds like Rs. 1500 increase for one size up....

| welcome smartcat. loved your honesty and sense of humour. not too many of us are blessed with this ability to laugh at ourselves. regarding price i have this simple theory - if i can afford it and i feel all right then it IS the right price.

| Yes - it is a Pilot Primacy. Our man was quoting Rs. 5000 for 205/55R15. When I tried to haggle, he downsized the tyre to this model. I guess I am not a good negotiator! I haven't tested the new tyre for grip or highway road noise - but it has definitely improved the ride quality (I had Goodyear 185/65R14s before). Will upload the alloys pics as soon as I figure out how to do it. Let me look around team-bhp.com forum before that. I have interesting pics of my car getting stuck in slushy lake bed, a Hummer H2 going gingerly over humps while a M800 going full speed over it, a mob in Rajasthan trying to beat us up etc - all part of my cross country travels. |
