Default Hello from California

Hello Everyone,

This site was recommended to me by my good friend BJ Ram Rao, user name "ram". I am of Indian origin and live in California and both my wife and I are into cars!

We are currently taking automotive classes at a local college in San Francisco so we can fix our vehicles whenever something goes wrong. We are planning a long drive from the Arctic to the Antarctic in our 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The journey is expected to take 15 months.

The car build up has been an amazing experience - we have learned a lot. I am sure there will be many more lessons in our future...

Whoa! Another techie, albeit the cars variety. Welcome Shreesh. We will be keen to know more about your expedition, the car you are taking on this journey and the build-up process. May be even a pictorial.

And yes, welcome to the board mate. Enjoy your stay with us.

Thanks! We are almost done with the mods to the car - hopefully the laptop mount goes in tomorrow and we should be done!

Welcome Shreesh

Many of us here like long drives, but this one's really LOOOOOONG. I wish you all the very best - a drive from the tip of Canada to the end of Argentina covers every possible terrain, climate and political landscapes.

Nice choice of vehicle, too - Happy Cruisin, and keep us updated!

Heres to wishing Mr. & Mrs. Shreesh the best for an adventurous, albeit challenging, long expedition. Absolutely commendable on how the two of you plan to do something close to your heart when you still have the chance.....Also, a very smart move with taking instructions on repairing your FJ; it may just come in handy. Have you tried contacting Toyota for any service support that they may be able to extend to you?

All the very best to the two of you again. Keep us updated!

We have not made any attempts at getting support from Toyota as we have been sooo busy! I've had to turn down sponsorship deals because there is just the two of us in this venture and we don't have the bandwidth for managing them.

Once we get more comfortable with overland travel we may try again.

I was trying to figure out which forum on Team-BHP would be the most appropriate for trail updates. Any ideas?

Welcome Shreesh! Ram had given a pointer to you and your upcoming adventure.

The appropriate Forum for this would be the Travelogue section. However, would love to hear the background of this expedition. Like how did you get to even think of it in the first place. Alongwith some pointers to your choice of vehicle. Stages for your vehicle preparation. Beleive me you will love writing about it as much as we will love reading.
