Default Hi people, a rookie here

Hi Everybody

Been snooping around for a while, so I thought I'd introduce myself. The name's Deep and I'm an automotive engineer by profession. Currently in Chicago,IL but very much a Bangalorean.

Found this forum some time ago and I've been visiting every now and then reading up some of the old threads. A great site and helped me get up to speed on the latest and greatest in the Indian Auto scene. I've been on some other auto forums where tempers are flying and the launguage gets dirty pretty soon. Good to see some clean discussion here.

I thought I was the biggest car freak in the world till I found you guys here. Nice to meet you all & congrats to
the founders/moderators for doing such a good job of maintaining the site. Looking forward to some good discussions.

Cars in the household include:

Bangalore
Astra Club Petrol
OHC 1.5
Omni

Chicago
E36 BMW M3
Mitsu Eclipse turboAWD
CTS-Honda shifter kart
Chevy Venture

Cheers
-Deep

Sounds good to have you aboard pal. E36 M3 , eh? Now I know where you got your nick from. IMO, one the most underrated Beemers ever. Would you pick the E36 over the E30? I'm very hopeful of owning an E30 M3 someday.

Do tell us more about your line of work, I know I'd be a lot more interested.

Darn, yet another Bangy-types!

Hi again

Thanks for the warm welcome. Here are some pics of my rides.

Ported Head: used to work for DaimlerChrysler in Detroit. Moved to
Chicago recently and work for a suspension components supplier.
My area is suspension+vehicle dynamics, but I've worked on Hybrids too. ............E30 vs E36....tough decision.....E30 is more nimble & fun to drive but its too hard-edged for everyday use. E36 is more of a GT....a highway machine. E30 is a karate kid.....E36....is more like James Bond.

Autopsyhe: I'm in the southen suburbs, but I do go to Devon every now and then. Still have a lot of friends in Detroit so, I-94 is very familiar to me. Eclipse.....nice car but I've had too many reliability issues. Was yours a turbo?

Damn, such clean lines, sight for sore eyes, referring to your M3 of course.

How about some specifications on your kart? What engine are you running? More importantly, I see a shift stick next to your steering wheel, mechanical linkage? Or sequential? If yes, you could be a lot of help, for a project that I have in mind.

Sure, kart specs are as follows:

Engine is basically off of a Honda CR125 dirtbike, 2 stroke, LC, 6 speed sequential.
Mods are "ported head" , expansion chamber & PV removed and set for hi-rpm. power band is from 9,000 - 11,000 rpm.
There is a clutch on the other side, used only for launching in 1st. After that it's all "lift and shift".
Linkage is all mechanical.
Brakes, twin piston, crossdrilled brembos. tires Bridgestone RGB slicks. Chassis is made by CTS out of California
Project !!! sounds interesting. Maybe you can start another thread on that.
