Hi,
This is Abhinav from Chennai.
Never knew an India specific autombolie forum existed till I accidentaly stumbled here (Thanks to who else but Google!)

Automobiles, Technology and Travelling are my interests (alphabetical order)
I drive a Opel Corsa 1.4 which has clocked 35K kms from when I bought in in June 2003 thanks to extensive travelling in Himachal, Uttranchal and of late, the Southern Peninsula.

Hoping to enjoy posting here

by the way i bought a corsa 1.4 in september 2004 - how much economical do you think it is ? -( maintenance and fuel economy wise )

Fuel Economy: I used to get around 13-14 kmpl in Gurgaon (with AC) ...After shifting to Chennai, it has dropped down to 9-10 (with AC)..Highway mileage is ~16-17 on a decent highway

Maintenance: Frankly, I do not know why Opels got a bad name for high maintenance costs...The car does have its flaws, but this is definitely not one of them....

it needs a service every 10000kms unlike 5000 for most others.....Average paid service cost is >1000
Spare parts are cheap...
I have had to buy (from what i remember the following)

Failed A/C microswitch- 70/-
Front Headlight full assembly and front bumper (Some idiot rammed his/her vehicle into my car while it was parked): 3000/- +3000/-
Insurance covered approx 50% of it (50% depreciation on plastic parts)

same with me -- i get around 13 - 14 in city. on highways she's absolute beauty to drive and gives around 18 kmpl - thats decent enough.
BTW spare parts have become cheaper 2yrs back -- before that a single headlamp unit would have costed you a dear 6k - (i hav spent a hard 11k for pair of mirrors on an astra)
but its the quality for which its worth paying for.
