Thank you all for your response, I will post pics of my vehicles ASAP, as you are well aware of my age, I belong to the dinosaur era and am still sticking to silver hallide and SLR, therefore, I have to go through the long and tedious process of developing, priniting and scanning.

Welcome, Gurkha. Nice set of wheels you have there ! The Gurkha came highly recommended as a 4X4...

Rudra - noticed 2-3 older members joining today. Coincidentally, today is also your birthday - nice to feel younger suddenly, huh?

Elvis and Sinatra ears here too, though Sachmo, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington take precedence along with Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald...

Steeroid,

The Gurkha is still sold in Europe where true 4WD is appreciated, German 4x4 magazine did a severe torture test where it outperformed and outlasted the Land Rover and Land Cruiser and got the title of Iron Horse, the Gurkha rear diff can is rated at 3.75t making it the highest in its class. Sadly since it was never liked by the Indian crowd so only three were sold, I was actually the first person in India to get the delivery of it.

Cream,

Thank you for your welcome, I do listen to a variety of music which includes Engelbert, Elvis and Sinatra and also Edith Piaff, Nat King Cole as well as Ahskenazy.

Well, SOME creature comforts would've helped. They made a great 4X4, but not such a great vehicle for transportation.

Quite surprised that just 3 were sold - I see one scurrying about Kerala occassionally in military green. Doesnt the Army have a few of these?

Join the club. But for a quick one, you can ask the lab to give you a CD from your colour negetive.

Hey v1p3r, I forgot to put 'one of the'. That happens when someone is three down. But there can't be more than one or two who're older than me .

The army's budget doesn't allow a Gurkha as it was Rs.6lakh ex-factory in 97. As for the interiors, it is a 4WD, no carpetting or padding possible and the dashboard is all metal so long life, it does have really comfortable seats up front and the driving ergonomics are very good too. Its real quality comes off road where its independent front and full floating rear makes it shades better than most 4WD out there. You can submerge the Gurkha as long as the air intake and exhaust is over the water and the vehicle would come out unscathed.

Rudra,

Next time you are here, please drop in and be my guest, you would be surprised how much they have ruined nature here, very soon I am thinking of moving to the south, somewhere near the sea. Any suggestions from people living in the south truly appreciated.
