Team-BHP - Hello T-BHPians finally!!!

Hey Guys,

Firstly, I would like to thank the moderators for accepting my registration on second attempt.

I am Tarun Mehta. basically from Mohali, Punjab and working as an Oracle DBA in HCL Comnet, Noida.

My first ride was my dad's orange colour Bajaj 150, it was 3 geared scooter. I used to make lot of fun of the colour but now after reading so many blogs on old classic restorations did I learn that those colours provided a character to the vehicle which IMO is missing in todays vehicles.

Moving ahead dad also bought a second hand Premier Padmini, that was our first car and was bought in grey colour but it was restored beautifully and painted in sky blue colour kept it only for 2 years.

In Sept 1996 we bought our first Maruti 800 in hyderabad. I still drive this car and has just did 85k kilometers yesterday not much of a mile muncher. It has been maintained well and gives a mileage of 20kmpl in city and 25kmpl on highways :thumbs up under normal conditions and I dont drive it easy do push it at times.

In Nov 2001 I was gifted a silver vespa by my dad. Cosmetically this scooter has taken a lot of beating but is a beauty to drive. In its hay days I have defeated a Yamaha Rx135 in straight line. Used to give a mileage of 65kmpl (mileage has fallen drastically now though).

My latest possesion is a Ford Fiesta 1.6ZXI clap: bought on 21st Sept 2009. A big thanks goes to team-bhp forums behind this purchase as I was really confused between ANHC and Ford Fiesta. Got one of the best deals in my view for this car. Its platinum colour and have done minor cosmetic upgrades which I did with the corporate discount I got.
Have got first service done for the car and got waxoyl done again thanks to forums which made me learn the diff. between teflon, wax and waxoyl.

Regarding my interest in automobiles it all started in Class 9th during my summer holidays.
I was just swapping channels and for first time I saw a F1 race and saw a red car leading the pack, again and again commentator was saying SCHUMACHER SCHUMACHER....firstly that name sounded cool and that red car was looking undefeatable. Thats how it all started.

Besides automobiles I am interested in movies (any language), collecting die cast/radio controlled models, gadgets.
