In Kolkata, I have attributed this addiction to the habit of riding on only rickety broken down Amby taxis . Now dont get me started on these Amby taxis again .

On a serious note I think once they see the solid build, they feel they must push hard with all their might.

12000km update:
The lady has been sent to a skin specialist. Although the medic in consideration is a general physician, he has been the family doctor for long so we could trust him. The recommended doctor had high costs plus we had to take an appointment with a long waiting period. So the local doc it was.

The illness? A small scar on the thighs. It wasn't that serious, but then it stood out like a sore thumb when one went ogling at her. A scar on such a dusky complexioned gorgeous, sleek and well-maintained (figure)! Nah, it had to be removed!

So the doc has estimated a rough cost of 2200 bucks, for which I have also asked him to be gentle on the lady and touch her up on other minor scars as well.

OT: the owner was quite interested in knowing about the price, mileage and other details. Although being a Maruti A$$ owner, he had pretty high regards for VW cars and had a lot of respect for their reliability. When I also mentioned the Rapid as a VFM option over the Vento, he completely rejected it, stating the A$$ as the reason. That point of difference coming from a workshop owner, says a lot!

Just for info, the garage in discussion was Shetty Garage.

Lovely snaps there too.

18kmpl is a great FE. High speed numbers are also great!

And pen drive in office? Lol! Unless you have a laptop, you do know that all desktops in office have USB port disabled, right?
Beat this.. My company provided laptop also has USB port disabled

That I think should help somewhat. Its just an extension of the entire car security and alarm system. Though I am not sure if breaking of a glass should automatically set off the alarm even though this surveillance system is not there.

I am never going to ask ninja to run this test case on his car
Even though its late I thought that I would answer since have tested this . Once the door lock is armed with the remote , if there is any movement inside the car the alarm would go off with a blast of the horn. This is one of the first few things that was tested out by my son , just to annoy me

1. I nearly scolded my FIL ( who happens to stay in Kolkata and is more used to the Amby cabs ) and then had a discussion with him . What he said was useful - he mentioned that the door seems heavy to push, the feeling gets accentuated due to the thud . Thus he used extra force

2. Well I may sound like promoting a product but I have used something in my tyres and filled with nitrogen - I am on my third month without a visit to the tyre refill station . Tyre temps are much lower over long distance drives . You may give it a shot if you are convinced

I had this problem initially with my family but hey have now understood that European cars do close with a thud and needs to be closed without slamming it. But, whenever someone comes over(relatives) and gets a ride in the car they just slam the door so hardly and say the door is so heavy with a big grin on their face.

That's actually good, no need to visit a bunk for tyre pressure check up regularly as its always pumped up.

You surely are pampering your car very nicely indeed. 2200 bucks for a scratch, wow. Do post a pic of before and after the surgery. Couldn't the scar be worked out by some rubbing compound?

The scar I got on my car from the auto in our meet in Mumbai is simply invisible with the help of few rubbing compound session.

You can easily enable it through the Bios if your company hasn't put in a Bios password which you aren't aware of.

That's some news. Even I have nitrogen in my car(33F, 35R) but keep it a practice to have it checked once every 3 weeks.
Temps surely would be lower but tyre pressure would certainly reduce and affect the FE with increased rolling resistance.

So it seems I'm not alone with the car door slamming issue. Also Nitrogen seems to be a good option as per you guys.

^^Sourav, what was the additional stuff that you added to your tires?

This was a deep scratch, no, a dent actually. I had checked at VW as well as 3M Car Care, the former quoted 5500+taxes, while the later denied it would go away or be reduced by any other option.

As for your's auto-scratch, that was relatively minor. :-) I wish mine (scratch) was that simple.

I know.. but could not stop myself from posting that. Actually I am also in the market looking to buy Vento. Yesterday visited B.U. Bhandari. I was attended by same sales exec - Mandar, who took care of your deal as well. They have quoted on road price for 2012 Vento TDI Highline - INR 1115444.
Breakup :
Ex Showroom - INR 999956
Insurance (Bajaj Allianz) - INR 39491
RTO - INR 75997
Total - INR 1115444.
I was offered a 31K corporate discount. Hence, final on-road price comes to INR 1084444.

Please note - 2012 Vento TDI Highline now gets Leather Seats

Need your advise on if anything else I can negotiate on, though Mandar clearly refused any further discounts.

Hey, that's actually not a bad figure! Terrific discount I must say, I only got 16k corporate discount.

Btw check the insurance quotes from outside, talk with Mandar or Suraj(mandar's boss) to see if they'll match the outside quotes. Mine was 30k with zero dep (Tata-Aig). Both Bajaj and Tata AIG are good enough. They both have cashless facility with BuB workshops.

Other than that, the deal seems good enough. They allow PDI at their workshops before registration. Also bargain to get free accessories like mudflaps, etc. You do have the Rapid as a bargain option.

Insurance is on the higher side. You could easily get your car insured for less than 25K and that too zero dep policy.
Do ask some insurance company for the premium and compare it to what the dealer has quoted. You would be surprised.
And if you want complete peace of mind get the zero dep policy, thats what the latest is.

Correction here, its actually Leatherette seats and not leather seats and they are available for less than Rs. 9000 from VW workshop for Vento.

The only thing that can help you out here is, you need to open the laptop base and remove the CMOS battery(not your laptop main battery). Which would result in Bios getting reset and it would erase the bios password. Than you can access Bios and enable USB. You just need a screw driver, that simple. Enjoy your laptop even more with USB enabled.

I am confused between Vento TDI and Mitsubishi Cedia Sports.

The link to my Cedia Sports TD experience is below :

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2703075 (Cedia sports price dropped to INR 7,99,000)

Basic query : How would you rate Vento TDI against Cedia in driving dymanics, handling and capabilities of doing high speeds? How would it handle corners/lane changes at high speeds? In the near future, I would definitely do some Autocross Events, TSD's and a definite Leh Ladakh trip.

Additional 75Nm torque (cedia-175nm, Vento-250nm), Premium Cabin feel, Better Resale Value (I get this strong urges to change vehicle after 2 yrs) , Lower running cost (due to diesel) - Are the points pulling me towards Vento.
whereas
Cedia Sports has 10ps more (cedia-115ps, Vento-105ps), 10mm of additional GC, more space, handles well, have seen it attain high speeds with 300kg passenger load and its a unique car (rarely you see one on the road, hence makes head turn).

If Vento can match (80-90%, if not same or better) the handling, performance, driving dynamics, high speed capability of Cedia - I will close the deal with Vento TDI. Incase, the vento lacks in above parameters, I will go for Cedia Sports. Fuel is not my concern. My daily run is only 16Kms but since I do long outstation trips my average monthly run would come out to be max 1000-1200Kms (Atleast this is the trend currently. Covered ~25700Kms in 21months).

I think the writing is clear on the wall, isn't it?

The Cedia is the car for you. The Vento is an excellent car, and should satisfy most of your requirements. But I doubt the Vento might satisfy your needs now that you are hooked onto the Cedia. Honestly, the only reason I would recommend you the Vento is the fuel savings & the resale value. But the 2 lakh difference should be enough to sweeten the deal. All said and done, there are going to be enough enthusiasts to purchase the Cedia 2 years down the line in case you feel the need to change again (which I seriously doubt!)
