I have no idea why rats are attracted to Liva's AC :P
My friend's car also faced the same issue.
My liva too had its AC filter damaged(that's what Harsha Toyota Claimed) by a rat.
The car I almost took delivery of(Etios V) had its electricals & wirings damaged on the day of delivery by a rat.
Is the engine bay very spacious enough for rat movement ? I once saw rat tracks on the engine cover after not using the car for 2 days. I had my old Santro parked in the same spot, didn't have any issues for 8 long years.

Even my Punto was a victim of this. Rats chewed off some wire of the a/c system from underneath the engine bay and it stopped working few mins into a Hyderabad -> Bangalore drive. Such a menace!

And my friend's Fortuner as well. The Fortuner attack was very bad though. Rats built their nest inside the a/c filter. And was living inside the car dashboard whenever needed. Came to know later that it is a known issue with Fortuner and they have added a rash mesh as an accessory (beats me why it's not standard!) for people complaining of rat attack.

Update:

The white knight crossed the 34,000km mark yesterday!
Didn't have time to post the 33k km update!
Yesterday's highway run was effortless, doing triple digit speeds all day and it returned a decent mileage of 19-20 with that kind of aggressive driving.

How is your stock battery doing? Is it a Tata Green? I want to upgrade to an Amaron.

Has anyone here replaced the clutch on an etios or liva diesel? I know clutch life depends on use but generally how long does the clutch last on a diesel etios?

My liva gd is at 70k kms and has suddenly become too sluggish, I would be disappointed if the clutch is worn this soon.

I'd suggest you to get the clutch checked with Toyota. NY friend's Liva diesel is at 99k kms and he hasn't changed his clutch at all.

Finally got the battery replaced after half a year! Battery cells became weak way back in november and very recently, there were instances of car refusing to start when I was outside well past mid night. Wanted to put an end to this and finally got it replaced today! Got this new Amaron battery for 5k and the old one had a buy back of 900 bucks!

Saadat, a bit confused now. My car is 45K km old, a bit older than yours. My battery is still running strong, touchwood. Why is it that your battery needed a replacement this early?

Edit: Actually, my car is newer than yours. It will turn three on 27th August.

I have had the Hella Super tone horns for quite some time! That might be draining the battery? But, it has its own relay kit.
My 100/90 set up too!
I have no idea why my battery's cells became weak!

Hi Saadat1992,

I am a serious reader of your's, Subratasen's and Amalji's posts regarding Etios Liva. Its only because of you guys I came to know a lot of things about this car. I actually wanted to buy either a Toyota or a Honda. But finally ended up booking the 'All New Honda Jazz SV MT IDTEC- Urban Titanium'. But given a choice of buying another car, then it would be the Liva for sure .Per my recommendation, A friend of mine bought a Toyota Etios after reading all your reviews.

Thanks a Lot for showing us all more light on the capabilities of this underrated samurai.

Since the new car is expected this week, I would like to get the PU leatherite for the seats, Floor Mats (similar to yours),Mud flaps(I didn't like the Honda OEM ones - any recommendation on Aftermarket ones? ),Black and grey - Multi folk wheel caps(until I upgrade for black multi folk alloys soon).
Also I would like to exchange my stock MRF tyres to Michelin XM2. Per your exposure and friends contacts - would you be able to suggest some accessory/Tyre dealers in Chennai who could help my cause? Thanks in advance.

Hi DieselTorq,

Glad you and your friend found our posts informative and helpful. Also, congratulations on your new Car

Mud flaps - I'd advice you to stick with Honda OEM ones. Since the vehicle is relatively new in the market, I doubt if there are proper Non OEM ones.

Tyre dealers in Chennai : BM Lal, Whites road! That's the place. Best in town, I have got the tyres of my Santro changed over there and recently changed one tyre of my Liva there(Totally forgot to post about that here) The new one is a BridgeStone 175 Section tyre, others are Goodyear 175 Sections.

Accessory shops: Loads to choose from. Be careful if you're in GP road, people are waiting to over charge you and shower your ride with duplicates for the price of original when they see you drive there in a brand new car.
Jeevajee in Anna Nagar is a good place and then there's Leo Car accessories off Mount road. These are good places and have genuine stuff.
