Good report. Congrats. From my personal experience - Toyota has given me the best service centre experiences. Prompt and very clean centres with courteous staff. However- these are only for regular services and I haven't experienced their skills at problem solving though.

The service rates are very cheap indeed. They ask similar rates for Fortuners also which is brilliant IMO considering the price of the vehicle.

However, surprised to see so many parts replaced under warranty before the 10k mark. Makes one wonder if the famous Toyota reliability gone for a toss!

Congratulations, Toyotas Indeed are reliable and frugal.I would have really appreciated if the Liva did not come with a center console, somehow am not comfortable. Had driven a Yaris during one of my on site visits in Switzerland which too had a centre console and some how felt odd.
I am really impressed with the way Toyota treats their customers. Eyeing the Innova as my next car

Happy mile munching.

Interesting- can you please share your experience with the flooring, the material and how much did it cost? Also, does it have fire resistant properties?

Yes even i agree with you, but in my case i was facing "Grr Grr" noise while braking just after the vehicle was taken back from Service center (Noise did not occur till the vehicle was given for servicing with ODO at 8877 kms). I was furious with this issue and expected early feedback call.

Freaking cheap to maintain with lots of space that's what my cousins who owns Swift & Swift Dzire has to say

Thanks CrAzY dRiVeR

The thud noise occurred once in blue moon, but I was persistent to get the issue sorted out since the vehicle is under warranty. Had they listen to me during 10k interval service, they could have managed by changing RHS rear shock absorber. The "Grr Grr" noise while braking just after taking delivery from service center is least expected from any vehicle.

They were/are so scared of complaint made to Toyota Bangalore that they preferred changing all those parts.

I am glad such rating system prevails & manufacture takes it very seriously, 10/10 to Toyota on that front.

Once you get used to center console it gives commanding road view and feels much better. All the best for Innova.

The flooring material is of good quality, 15 months since it is fixed no issues what so ever. It gets cleaned by washing guy every Sunday with dry cloth cloth dusting followed by wiping tightly squeezed wet cloth which is again followed by wiping dry cloth

Material: Artificial Leather.
Price: Rs 2200/- with installation

I have put Toyota rubber matting on top of it that was purchased from the dealer. No idea about fire resistant properties.

The Liva is actually a very good car in terms of practicality and reliability. And trust me, you do get used to the centrally placed instrument panel quite easily, and not only that, the view from behind the wheel also gets a bit better (in my opinion purely).

It is the only car that i have driven with a centrally mounted panel, but it is not a hindrance whatsoever and you actually don'e even notice it later on.

I really think the Indian public will eventually warm up to the car after some time, since it is way better than the rattle bins we are used to. If only Toyota gave it a more modern look....

On 1st April 2015 booked an appointment for 3rd April for rear bumper issue.

On 3rd April reached the dealership and upon inspection i was informed that the entire rear bumper needs to be replaced and then repainted since the internal clips that are attached to bumper have been broken and no arrangement can be made to fix it. (Not even some kind of Jugaad)

Got two options from the dealer
  1. Insurance claim - Approx estimation of Rs 11-12k and i will have to shell out 1k. Time line - four days including inspection and painting of bumper
  2. Without insurance - Approx estimation of Rs 7-8K and i will have to shell out entire amount. Time line -two days including painting of bumper.

Broken bumper holder
White meets Black, it's Toyota Liva GD Xclusive for me. EDIT: 30,000 km update-img_4869.jpg

The adviser was of the opinion that since its not a major damage & the bumper is still holding on pretty well so no need to change. If something major happens you can opt for a change. Thought it to be sensible advice and since my sisters marriage was approaching near i could not afford to keep vehicle.

On 12th April got light coloured Garware sunfilm installed on all four side windows, front windshield and rear windshield. Costed me Rs 3000/- inclusive of installation.

30% heat reduction as claimed by the accessories shop.

20k Service Update

The service was done on August 1, 2015 with ODO at 18464 kms, the last servicing was carried out on 22nd November 2014 at 8877 kms.

Two issues were reported prior to servicing
  1. Screeching noise while braking early morning for 2-3 kms and after that initial noise use to disappear.
  2. A loose / broken clip in rear bench seat
Service and cost details
  • MVP ELEMENT KIT OIL (QTY 1) RS 472.50/- INC OF VAT
  • FLUID WINDSHIELD WASH (QTY 3) RS 124.03/- INC OF VAT
  • GASKET (QTY 1) RS 55.52/- INC VAT
  • BOSS TICK (QTY 1) RS 53.16/- INC OF VAT
  • TGMO SYNTHETIC (QTY 4 LITRES) RS 3439.99/- INC VAT
  • 20,000 KM SERVICE INSPECTION UNDER WARRANTY
  • TOTAL COST RS 4145/-
Some observations on Invoice
  • Front Brake pad 5mm
  • Rear liner 4mm
  • Rear seat needs to be replaced
  • Both bumper broken (only rear RHS clip is broken & front bumper has small dent)
The screeching noise issue is resolved with some greasing and at present ODO stands at 19135+ kms with no issue at all. For rear seat the clip is broken and entire seat needs to be replaced, which costs a bomb Rs 8k (Toyota have you gone nuts). The SA used Boss Stick and did some 'Jugaad' it is now much better.

The quality of the work / service is really appreciable, right from booking service appointment till handing over vehicle after servicing. I am very much satisfied with overall work performed, this time i had no complaints at all.

Opted for Synthetic Oil this time and it has made world of difference in engine note, the noise much less and once the engine is warm one can hardly hear the engine noise when its cruising in sweet spot. If you rev it hard, well one can clearly hear the engine noise. This engine does not like it to be revved at all. Stay within the band, shift early, Cruise & you will have Better FE Figures.

Rated the dealership to Toyota Bangalore follow up call as follows
  1. Service appointment experience (10/10)
  2. Issues attended (10/10)
  3. Interaction with S.A (10/10)
  4. Washing & interior cleaning (10/10)
  5. Delivery time (10/10)
The infamous and so called cheap interiors are holding up pretty well and no rattlings whatsoever

Why did they replace the Air filter ? Air filter's replacement interval is 40,000 kms ( not 30,000 ).

And what's the headlight cut out ?

And your front brake pads looks good for atleast another 20-25k kms. ( I replace it every 30-35k kms due to my aggressive driving style mostly in the narrow highways of Kerala.
Rear should last for a lakh plus kms. ( I have never replaced it till date @ 1,08,000 kms )

Yes i know Air filter replacement is done at 40,000 kms. My car use to do lots of highway runs to our home town (farms & dusty roads) after every 1000 kms of trip it was mandatory for me to clean the dirty/dusty air filter. It had turned fully dark, so requested them to change at 30,000 kms service interval.

Now that highway duty is done by our new Creta & liva will be strictly city runs with occasional highway tirps.
