P Cheetah got a present from my kids. Stanley Steel Coffee Set comprising a flask and a cup. Made in China. Bought in Australia. For use in India.

I checked the tyre pressure, fluid levels, cleaned the engine bay, interiors, alloy wheels, washed and waxed in 8 hours over 4 sessions in 3 days. Here are some reflection photographs.

Fantastic , your Cheetah is gleaming, looks in showroom mint condition. Could you please elaborate on the process you follow for waxing/ polishing? Do you use the buffing wheel or do it completely by hand?

Thanks for the appreciation, AutoIndian.

Waxing and polishing took 2 sessions, each of 2 hours. In the first one, I tackled the rear hatch door, RHS panels and bonnet. In the next session, LHS panels, top and front portion. I worked on one panel at a time, then the other and so on, using my old cotton dhoti cloth and chamois leather. I followed the instructions contained on the can of Meguiar's.

Completely by hand. I don't go to gym. I consider this as the best exercise!

Thank you for sharing that info. Can you please post a picture of the instructions contained on the can of Meguiar's? I use the Jopasu spray wax, picture below. Also follow the instructions mentioned on the spray bottle. Want to check if it is similar for the Meguarir's

Unhappy Bangalore>Arani>Chennai

Phew! At last, we reached Chennai Royapettah home today at 00:15 am. We had left Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 1:40 pm, reached Electronic City toll plaza after 2 hours, spent more than half-hour to cross Krishnagiri toll plaza, had evening tiffin + coffee at saisangeet after Vaniambadi toll plaza, visited Arani by taking right turn on to the SH after Pallikonda toll plaza, left Arani at 9:30 pm after attending to the works there and drove via Arcot. All these queues and delays are attributable to the long weekend rush.

Toll has not yet been deducted at the toll plazas at Attibele, Krishnagiri and Chennasamudram.

Default Chennai>Peravur>Chennai [271 km]

Visited Peravur village - located 17 km from Tindivanam, perpendicular to the Tindivanam-Pondy NH 66 - and returned to Chennai. Left Chennai Royapettah home at 8:15 am yesterday, had a tankful of diesel costing ₹ 51.65 a litre at Woodlands Enterprises, Dr Radhakrishnan Salai, got a complimentary copy of The Hindu, breakfasted at Hotel Shri Balaajee Bhavan, Chromepet, reached the village at 12 noon, attended a function, lunched, left at 2:30 pm and reached home at 5:10 pm.

Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah-mid22082016.jpg

There were two non-FASTag-enabled toll plazas at Parunur [Chinglepet bypass] and Athur [near Melmaruvathur] on NH 45. So, I paid cash for the return trip toll costing ₹ 75 each. On the Parunur toll receipt, it was clearly mentioned 'two way journey' and on the Athur toll receipt, 'type of journey: return'. So, no multiple trips possible through these two toll plazas. Curiously, these two toll plazas are listed under 'FASTag-active toll plazas' serial numbered at 264 and 265 in ICICI Bank website, http://www.icicibank.com/Personal-Ba...page?#toptitle

Default Purple Cheetah's First Puncture

From the past few weeks, I have been observing minute leaking of air in the rear right tyre @ 3 psi/week, while the other 3 maintained their pressure. I used to top up the pressure using portable tyre inflator. Today, I drove to Lal Enterprises near my Chennai home and got it checked. Yes, it was a puncture and the villain was a nail deeply embedded inside the tyre. I was advised against wheel balancing of the rear 2 wheels as their remaining life was 5 k km. So, got the puncture repaired using mushroom patch and also got done the front 2 wheel balancing and wheel alignment. The villain drove with us for more than 600 km!

Default Chennai>>Tirukkoyilur>>Bangalore

Me and my P Cheetah had a hectic schedule today. Left Chennai Royapettah home at 2 am, drove almost like a bumper-to-bumper city drive accompanied by rains, caught in a 2-hour-long stand still traffic jam between 4 and 6 am due to long weekend, got down from a bridge at 23 km from Tindivanam, drove through some village roads and MDR, reached NH 45 again at Tindivanam, reached Tirukkoyilur at 8:30 am, attended a marriage, breakfasted and lunched at the marriage venue, left there at 12:45 pm, came on the beautiful single/double/4/6-laned village roads/MDR/SH and NH via Manalurpet>Mungilthuraipattu>Theerthamalai>Harur>M orappur>Karimangalam>Krishnagiri, had evening tiffin at A2B, Hosur at 5 pm and reached Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 7 pm. Phew!

FASTag worked at Vikravandi toll plaza on NH 45. It goes without saying that P Cheetah had a free passage at Krishnagiri toll plaza as usual.

Do wait for few days before you confirm this.

I had travelled through Krishnagiri on 15 Aug, they had scanned my RFID using a handheld device. Now, couple of days back that amount was debitted from my account.

My earlier trip in through that toll booth was not charged. Hence I guess they have started charging everyone now.

Default Bangalore - Chennai Non-Stop Night Drive

Purple Cheetah brought us safely and comfortably to Chennai Royapettah home at 2:25 am today. We had left Bangalore JP Nagar at 9:30 pm last night. Rain accompanied us at varying intensity from Vellore to Kanchipuram. P Cheetah crossed 50 k km in less than 3 years at Arcot bypass!

Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah-blorechennai11102016.jpg

Last evening, we had worshiped and thanked P Cheetah and my son's Hyundai Active i20 and Royal Enfield Classic 500 on the occasion of Ayudha Pooja.

I passed through the new dedicated lane for FASTag vehicles at the Krishnagiri toll plaza. Earlier, non-FASTag vehicles were allowed on the FASTag-designated lane. Now, an attendant controls the entry point of the dedicated lane by removing the barricade only for FASTag vehicles.

Default Sixth Service @ 50,000 km

Today, Purple Cheetah had its 50 k km servicing done at TV Sundram Iyengar & Sons Private Limited [TVS], Arcot Road, Saligramam, Chennai 600093, who are the new dealer and service-provider in Chennai, replacing MPL Automobiles. Reported at 9:30 am, waited at the customers lounge, got back at 1 pm, returned home at 2 pm and had lunch there.

While handing over P Cheetah, I instructed the service adviser, Dhamodharan not to do any 'extras' like engine-dressing, underbody coating, AC cleaning, etc. I also requested him to replace the engine oil and filter as one year elapsed after the last oil change at 40 k km at India Garage, Chennai. He adhered to my instructions scrupulously.

Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah-6thservice.jpg

The previous service details are here (Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah).

Some major differences I noticed between India Garage - the previous service provider so far - and TVS:

1. India Garage used to charge me ₹ 600 for washing. But, TVS has not charged me anything. SA told me that P Cheetah was eligible for free monsoon washing, which he included in the billing.

2. India Garage used to charge me ₹ 500 towards consumables, whereas TVS has not done it.

3. I was charged ₹ 200 for vehicle diagnostic charges by TVS, whereas India Garage did not do so earlier.

4. Engine oil was billed for 7 litres now by TVS, whereas the quantity was 6 litres so far. But, the quantity of 7 litres was clearly displayed on the sign-boards inside TVS service station both for XUV 500 and Scorpio.

5. I am fully satisfied with the washing and cleaning. TVS guys have done a good job. India Garage miserably failed in this.

Awesome! And seems like you got the silver box flashed too! Does that change any functions, fix issues or bring new features?

Its unusual that you have not crossed the 10K Kms mark this year. Wishing you many more happy (s)miles with your pet purple cheetah!
