Update : Got my servicing done from Metro ford ,got the underbody anti rust treatment done (3M) and they charged me about 3500 for it .How much have you guys paid for it?
Also got my first puncture with 19700 km on the odo Not bad huh ?
Took me 10 min to figure out that the spanner is attached to the jack and has to be removed before using the jack ...lol

The guys at metro asked me if i wanted to change my regular engine oil with Mobil 1 synthetic oil ..charges ..Rs850/litre and 4.5 l to change would come out to Rs 3825 .Decided against it as I think it wasnt worth it.
The car is drives much better after the service (was overdue in terms of the number of long journeys taken ,as mentioned before) .Using system G regularly ...Fe is between 12-13 with 100% AC .

Congrats on the first puncture, sammy.
As for operating the jack, I got a session on the same from the service advisor before my first long trip to Kerala during Xmas. It would be great if i was able to do it correctly now.

@Benny - Thanks bro yup the jack is a lil complicated to use the first time but it does its job well .
@Jay - You are right there Jay , it does feel a little underpowered at times but nothing a downshift and reaching 4k rpm + wont cure heh heh .But I feel the power is enough for city driving (a wee less for highways) especially Bangy .

I agree with sammy's views on the power. It does call for downshifts at times, cant really expect too much from the 1.3 engine tuned more towards FE.

Good to see that the 1.3 is displacing the belief that Ikons are mere gas guzzlers.

I know what you mean Benny . Low milage and high maintenance are some myths that people have towards ford which need to be dispelled.

Default noise from suspension.

hi sammyboy,

you are spot on with the review. i have 2005 flair. it runs like a dream, but it is also one of the most unfortunate car in the world. why???????? i will put some pictures of the car and my part of the story soon.Waiting for the approval of being the regular BHPian.

till then, help me understand the problem i am facing.I have done 25k on my car.

Brakes make lot of squiky sound even while reversing you can hear the sound it like load is being put on and off the suspension.

i asked ford people to have look at it at the last service but somehow they missed it.

Should i go ahead and get it checked immediatly or is it just because of the rainy season.

Need your help bros.

thanks in advance

take care
God Bless

Manu

Manu, i think its something to do with the brakes not disengaging properly.
PM Jaggu, i guess he would have the right answer.

If its brakes getting jammed momentarily and releasing with a Thud, (left overnight) then you cant do much about it. When the brakes dry off, it will be fine. Usually happens after heavy rain drives and under body washes.

Hi,

Good to see another Ikon flair story and that rightly said that the myth that Ikon is fuel guzeller must be written off.

When in comes to city bumper to bumper drive best of FE cars give up and all to do is with ones style of driving which brings out good / bad FE no's.

Nevertless , coming to Highway drive Ikon has set's it standards.

Try your Ikon in a bit hush mush drive in city and see the FE Drop. Power is certainly an issue with 1.3 Flair, one can't ask more from this considering the 1.3 engine.

But 1.6 is real josh machine, barring whcih all aspects are truly Ikonic, responsiness, sharp streeing.

Cheers to Ikon owners....

no jaggu bhai,

it is not like getting jammed or anything but the thing is it makes a noise like when put load on something and release. that kind. i dont know how to put it. but you can feel it while releasing the brakes.

Manu, my gut feeling is that its got something to do with the handbrake not disengaging properly.
