Did you ever have regrets of choosing Caffeine Brown, while maintaining the car? Correct me if I am wrong, white and silver are relatively easier to maintain. I am asking this as my heart says Caffeine Brown, but the mind is pushing me towards Premium Silver or Arctic White

I have no regrets on choosing the caffeine brown, as I have always felt that s cross looks better in darker shades (my personal opinion). Blue and Brown are exclusive to s cross. In my opinion it looks as good as a brown on the duster, much better than the darker ciaz / maruti brown. I feel the claddings on the sides takes up a lot of space and lighter shaded cars appear too boring / flat / dual tone for me.

Brown is difficult to maintain. I ensure that I ask Nexa to wax polish my car as part of service every 10 k km. NEXA here does a good job with wax polishing and I feel it is much more economical to do that than spending on 3M work. More over with the maintenance cost and protect package I will get labour charges waived off for 60k km.

Silver is easier to maintain, and the car looks bigger in silver. I like white as well. White was the color I chose for hippo's faster and smaller younger brother.

Figo is fast and easy to drive in town, but I am more comfortable on long distances in my remapped s cross any day. Nearing 34k km in less than tw years.

Your Hippo is truly a 'Love-at-first-sight' stuff (I'm straight but just couldn't find a better way to express my admiration for your car).

I closed my purchase last week. Bought Alpha 1.3 in premium-silver, though it was my third choice after brown and white. Buying experience thread coming soon..

Talking New shoes for the hippo

It has been 2 years and 2 months. 39000km on the ODO.
225/55 R16 hankook ventus's were almost worn off
They have soft sidewalls and intolerable road noise
There were instances when the tyre noise was intrusive and truck like when on long highway trips
They did have huge road presence and made my car look butch, err.. not that butch but better than the other s crosses on the road. (IMO)

Times have changed. 38000KM, rough potholed roads, a remap, poor allingnment works, 3+ punctures and the Hankooks have given up. Braking had become skiddy and grip was much less reassuring.

Worn out Hankooks
My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha-20171008_122544.jpg

Took the car to dbs tyres, cochin for inspection. They were sure that 3 of them were pretty worn out and were not roadworthy. 38k was pretty good milage for abused 225 hankooks on a remapped and heavy car.

Now comes the question of ugrade
5 options were available (Final prices as per dealer)
- Bridgestone Turanza 215/60 R16 - Rs 7900/-
- Bridgestone Turanza 205/60 R16 - Rs 7200/-
- Michelin Primacy 205/60 R16 92V - Rs 7900/ -
- Michelin Primacy 215/60 R16 - Rs 9000/-
- Michelin Primacy 225/55 R 16 - Rs 9900/-

Michelin Primacy 205/60 R16 92 V June manufactured tyres (Made in Thailand)

My choice was the 205/60 R16 @ 7900/- per tyre. It was not a very sweet deal, but post GST and in Cochin the price was fair. Swapped all of them with the Primacy 205. I was tired of road noise on the Hankook 225s. According to the dealer, Hankooks has the same quality side walls as the Michelin but with more road noise. Bridgestones I heard, were also noisy. Any way did not want to spend close to 40k for tyres. Shelled out close to 32k for the tyre swap.

"Tummy Tuck" for Hippo - No more bulging blobs

After the tyre swap, it was as if I had given my hippo a tummy tuck. It was not at all bulging from the wheel arches, but the GTR alloys stood out and gave the car a more respectable look than the original s cross fan alloys. Took him for a drive and man the road noise was almost nil. On cobble stone like roads and concrete flyovers there was some road noise, thanks to the poor sound insulation of the car. Hoping to keep the Michelins okay for another 40K Km..touch wood.

Hi,

Spotted you near Paliyekkara toll booth last week (2nd October to be precise). We were in a purple Innova crysta (remember?) The car looks stunning I must say! The shiny brown color and those alloys make it stand out from rest of the crowd. Now I know the use of Team-BHP stickers on cars!

Do you stay anywhere near Aluva manappuram? I think I spotted the same car parked in front of a home.

Did the ride quality improve after the tyre change?

Drive safe!
Regards,
Harikrishnan

Did notice the purple Innova. I am a fan of the purple colour of the innova and xuv.
I stay at Cochin, not Aluva

Changes after Michelin 205
- The grippy nature has reduced
- The mad grip or rather the lack of it / wheelspin in second gear is no more, Now its grippy and there is no drama in initial acceleration in first / second gears post 3k rpm
- Road noise has reduced to 10%. Another problem has cropped up, Now I hear more engine sound and turbo whine. I feel there was some sporty note to that tyre noise and I have started missing it.

I must admit Brown color on S-Cross looks sweet and actually the credit is passed onto you! Your 'Hippo' looks really good sir. But the tummy tucker Michelin has taken away the looks of the hankook protruding out of body line

You mentioned on the FE meter being reset from the service center. I believe when the battery terminals are touched / reconnected, that's when the meter gets reset.

Happy mile munching!

Were you able to view your car on your mobile device as it went through service? Nexa service was said to have facilities to provide a video streaming/recording of the service to owners.

Drive on,
Shibu.
