| Drove the Passat Diesel today . Kashyap motors, New delhi has a silver one with black interiors . At first you would find a lot of resemblance to the passat's siblings - the audi a6 and the skoda superb. the french beardish grill looks great along with the headlights. moving on to the interiors, they are sportier than the superb and camry, and the high quality materials feel better than they look. It has the same key like the s class and pushing it starts the engine which is quiter than the superb but louder than the camry ( petrol advantage...). Looking at the centre console, the alluminium looks great. the music system doesn't sound that great and isnt worth talkin about. The air conditioning is pretty effective. Till the moment i stepped on the accelerator i thought 24 lakhs for this VW might not be worth it but then it all changed. The car felt faster than the Diesel V6 superb and the new 2.4 camry. The car had the dsg box which is found on the superb but in the superb ,to engage it into manual you flick it to the left, in this you flick it to the right. I personally loved the DSG box . Kashyap motors is getting the first 20 indian made passats in a week and Looking at the overall package for 24 lakhs i'd give it 8 out of 10 stars .... And oh yeah... the pics........ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Rehaan : 30th July 2007 at 08:51. Reason: image fixed |

| I personally dont like the design of the passat. Not a very big fan of the " french beard " , the interiors are amazing on the other hand. I am in love with the dsg gearbox, after experiencing a laura dsg. The shifts are butter smooth, and instantaneous. Wouldnt buy one with my own money, would buy a laura. I am a single driver so dont want a car so big, the laura has decent power too. ps: it also is couple of big ones cheaper than the passat. |

| Senior - BHPian | vw really has a tuff time pricing these cars with skoda already present in india with a premium image...as such imho, vw is a newer brand for most ppl compared to skoda...so vw has a tough job pricing its cars equally or more than the skoda... with such bland looks all the more difficult i guess |

Looks cool, but then it does take the fun out of engaging the handbrake using a nice lever. But its perfect for an AT me thinks. | |

| So indian made Passats are on sale next week? I thought VW is still setting up the factory! I expected the price to be a little lower than 24 lakhs if its CKD. At that price range i guess the new C-class would be worth the wait.
