Took delivery of the car on 30 July 2007. Looked really stunning in Intense Black and completely overshadowed the other cars. Black truly is the business for the Aveo!

First weeks report coming soon. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to drive much except for bumper-to-bumper office trips but will try and put in as much as I can!

Hi all,

Another update at 300km:

Performance:
Brakes feel a bit soft but grabby when pressed hard. May need some running in. I note that the advice is to brake gently but in Bangalore traffic gently is not an option sometimes!
Engine not very rev-happy but quite torquey in the mid-range. Will happily potter along at 20/25 km in third and at 40km in fourth. This is with 50% AC and with only me in the car though. Noted an irritating boomy resonance at 2000 rpm which seems to be inherent with the car. Can get used to it but sounds irritating in city traffic where you spend a lot of time at that rev range.
Ride is very very comfortable. Potholes are dealt with quite well as are speed breakers (only me in the car though!). Suspension is quite effective over rough . Handling is reasonable although there is a fair amount of body roll if taking corners at higher speeds.
FE still a mystery as I filled up on 30 July and have used up only about 70% of the total so far.
Interiors are stunning! I have the Base model but still feel that the interior quality is a class apart. One issue is the reflection off the beige strip on the dashboard but I can live with it (I think!) Seats are great. Good bolstering and general quality of seat fabrics used is up to the mark.
Exteriors are stunning too. My Black Aveo turns more heads than most similar cars due to the colour (makes the car look regal and imposing) as well as the general looks of the car itself. From the front it looks much larger than it is while the 'afterburner' style rear lights are excellent. From the side, the true size of the car is revealed and it looks a bit stubby with the relatively short boot length.

Overall, extremely pleased with the Aveo and looking forward to a lot of happy motoring to come!

Ok now i have few bits to share with you First of all Aveo has best Cabin noise level which is much better then other cars in the segment.

Brakes will get smoother after 1500 Kms approx. During your first check up with dealer tell him about noice on 2000 RPM level it will be rectified also let them know on Cabin noise if you feel it is more as i mentioned

since you have black color you may add on silver lines acc from GM on black it suits a lot and would cost about 1000 Rs i suppose.

Did you put ICE ?

Hi Kamy450

Thanks for your inputs! Will keep an eye on the brakes and boomy engine noise and maybe point them out at the first service just to be sure.

I should have updated the snap of the rear. I HAVE fitted the chrome licence garnish which has made a world of difference to the rear. It does look great on the black. Will take a snap and repost ASAP.

A few details of my accessories:
Chrome outer door handles
Chrome licence garnish
2 Nippon speakers (adds to the 2 which comes with the car)
Car cover
Beige Carpet style mats, and
Transparent rubber mats (to put on top of the beige mats)

I simply ran out of my budget after doing the above so have kept the stock Kenwood ICE for the time being and will hopefully replace it later.

Also considered the sill plates and the 'chrome kit' which has the front bumper garnish, half chrome covers for the ORVMs and a tail-lamp surround but did not buy it as I didn't like their quality or the thin-ness of the metal used.

Wanted to upsize tyres too but was forced to postpone it as:

1. Ran out of money!
2. Wasn't sure if I needed the same as will be doing mostly bumper-bumper city driving;
3. Unsure of effect on fuel consumption and on ride height

Will consider it much later when tyre change comes around.

Mind you, I spotted a Black Aveo on 205 alloys and what looked like original bodykit which looked mindblowing! The colour is imposing anyway and the 205 alloys and skirting etc gave the car just as much road presence as say a new black Accord with alloys! Now thats saying something!

Let me know how you guys are faring!

Congratz itwasntme!, even I had initially booked a black aveo but had second thought later. So went for Cashmere.
Even I got the chrome licence garnish fitted from the dealer. It sure gives the rear a classy look.

You can check out the pics (they havn't come out great, will post better ones soon) and my short review of the car at :

Happy Driving

Congrats on your new possesion, itwasntme.

Have to say that it looks stunnig, well upsizing the tyres would add more slickness to it, do post pics after you do so, and keep us posted on your experiences with the car
