Getting my Baleno's front suspension and timing belt change - FNG near my office.

1. Front Shockers @ Rs 3300/- pair
2. Axle - new rubber boot and checkup.
3. Timing Belt & Bearing. - Powergrip
3. On inspection found water pump malfunctioning. Replaced @ 900/-
4. Power steering & rack lathe work.

Work got halted yesterday as the power steering pump malfunction. its not generating required pressure at idle. If not resolved, will have to hunt for new/old one ?

What is your odometer reading now?
How did you decide the suspension was gone?

my baleno odo is 93k.
I had slight sound from steering rack and i was getting a swinging effect from the front. At speeds excess of 80kmph some time the tyre was scraping the fender lining. Under body scrapping on speed bakers became more frequent. Got inspected at FNG , they also confirmed it time to change !

No Alok my Baleno doesn't have any kit. If you drive around 80 - 100 on 5th gear it will give good mileage.

OK now update on the power steering pump failure. My mechanic arranged a used pump for 6.5 k. New one is costing 18k.

Got my car back.

Update on cost.

1. PS Pump - 6.5 k
2. Steering Overhaul - 2600/-
3. Axle Repair & Boot Change - 3200/-
4. Others & Labour Charges for - 3000/-

Total Cost all including parts - 22k. Had the PS pump not failed the bill would have be under 15k.

Did the longest family trip this puja holidays. Delhi to Kerala

Route - Delhi - Udaipur - Ahmedabad - Surat - Pune - Bng - Teni - Kumili - Kotayam - Pandalam.

Total Driving time - 46 hrs
Actual Days - 4 days of driving. Only from 5-30 am to 6 pm.
Total Distance - 3250 Km
Total Fuel - 225 L
Average - 14.4
Engine Oil consumption - 400 ml.
Longest continues drive - Delhi - Baroda - 14 hrs - 1050 kms.
Best Average - 15.9 kms -> Jaipur - Udaipur
70% drive was with A/c.
NH8 and NH4 on can easily cruse - 100 - 130 km/ph
Top Speed Clocked - 165 Km/Ph - Jaipur - Kishangarh, NE1, Pune Exp highway

Was a bit apprehensive before startup. A ten year old vehicle but in top condition. All out trips were in our SUV. Now after completing the trip, now i am super confident than ever before. Not a single problem faced. Post trip checked with Maruti service center every thing is fine only a quick wash was only required.

Few pics of our tirp

Congratulation for a successful journey & wishes for return trip.

14.4 KMPL is a satisfactory (even good) return but I am worried about engine oil consumption. Car has even not completed 1 Lace Kms and eating oil??

If you have more snaps of journey, please start a separate thread in tavelog section.

Thanks alok. it was a one way trip. I left my baleno there. Regarding oil, i think its normal to consume little bit of oil when your 80% of 3500 km is driven above 120 kmph. Had the car eating oil, then i would have needed more than 1 liter for the the tirp.

There is nothing much to pen as a travelogue. I will be updating the stats on the query thread.

Default Re: Baleno @ 10 years & 90,000 kms

Went for a routine service and front left bearing change at AVG, Tiruvalla. The noise has increased a lot after our recent Delhi - Kerala trip. Costed Rs 1900 + Rs 400 labour.

My dad was also saying AC too is not working. Does any body suggest a good FNG around Pandalam - CGNR - TVLLA to check the A/c

Default re: Baleno @ 14 years & 107000 kms

Another update,

Recently my baleno had a radiator leakage problem. This leakage occurs only while driving only. Got the radiator checked and repaired by a local FNG. Again with in couple of days the same problem recurred.

Then on a detailed checkup, was finally diagnosed to conked gasket. Due to compression leakage the pressure in radiator was leading to leakage.

Changed the gasket with SGP one costed Rs 1720/- . Still under observation. Hoping that radiator leak does not recur. Otherwise radiator too needs to changed.

V&V, though you not updated the Odometer figure of your car, I believe it should have crossed the 100,000 mark ?
So congratulations beforehand!!
Do we get to see some fresh pics of your Baleno?
What's the current odometer reading now ? How long do you plan to keep it ?
Any updates/mods planned for the car ?
