The ECU unit of Magnum has been remapped by GM in November. The guys running on old map can checkout with GM and they will do an upgrade for you free of cost. I have driven it for almost 100Kms in a test drive car (Brand new , No reg / insurance ) and I would say that petes is a waste of money for this car now. (Sorry petes)
hey thats strange, there is no news from GM's side as of now. Could you provide any indepth information of the same or any official announcement?

Going for the 5k service this week. Will surely check out the ECU upgrade.
Wrt FE, I'm getting around 10 kpl in Calcutta. 90% bumper to bumper traffic, AC on full time. Is something wrong with my car? Last week, I managed to smash one alloy. Any idea how much the OE alloys cost? Should I claim insurance or just get a regular steel rim?

@ ROC - I know the pricing is ridiculous butttttttt which company sells alloys in 4 digit numbers? Almost all Companies charge similar pricing for alloys, we can get OZ wheels in that much?

Rs. 10600 for one 15" alloy! Ridiculous.
Any idea about the regular 15" steel rims?

Each 16" RS alloy costs Rs. 9xxx. Now, where are the people who think Skoda parts are expensive?!

I dont have any official confirmation yet, but I got this info from an insider very close to GM R&D in india. Moreover I have driven both versions and its very very evident when the turbo kicks in. In fact its very hard to detect when actually turbo taking over on new batch... Check it out yourself, since you are driving one regularly it will be very evident for you. Please keep us posted and dont ask the Showroom guys, Most of them dont even know what Turbo means

Forgot to mention one thing: I feel the clutch is much lighter on new version.

I agree with the Turbo-lag issue. I recently test drove Magnum again and turbo lag was very less compared to when i test drove it earlier. It was the same test car they must have upgraded the ECU as referred in earlier post.

Good to know that clutch has been worked out in new Magnums. Any info regarding power steering ? Because power steering is twice as hard compared to petrol versions.

Yes i felt a slight change in handling too. At lower speeds the steering is very responsive than before, but the road grip and accuracy is too good above 100. From 100 onwards its a total different league and the steering is more sharper and assistance is just fine for that speed.

After seven pages of discussion, this would sound ridiculous-

But the thread title should be- "Optra Magnum TCDi... "

Got my Magnum back from the 5k service. The bill came to Rs. 1448.00

But, the A.S.S guys had no idea about the remap. I asked them to find out from the company. But, they said "we'll surely know about it if it was true"
