I do not think it is so easy to plonk in another ECU. When my car was at the service station for 2 days to check for a recurring glow plug indicator issue, the service advisor mentioned to me that he tried to update the ECU to check if the problem would go away. He also said that it was a time consuming job as they need to update the injector codes also into the ECU and only then the vehicle will start.

The vendor seems to offer this if there are any warranty related jobs. Refer the remap thread for details. So it should not be a big issue.

Default Re: 40,00 km service bill

Folks - given below is the tentative bill for my swift vdi car service at mandovi motors for 40,000km. Please let me know if these are on the higher side.

Gearbox oil - 850
Coolant - 250
Brake fluid - 150
Oil filter - 400
Airfilter - 400
Fuel filter - 500
EGT cleaning - 450
intercooler cleaning - 350
Service charge - 950
Engine flush -700?

My AC is not working properly at all and the SA said the coil has to be cleaned and gas refilled - charge about 1100 bucks

The front left caster is bent and has to be corrected as well.

I have supplied the engine oil and the tentative bill is coming to Rs. 7000
I might have left out couple of items like consumables etc.

Thanks.

EGR cleaning is recommended at every 30k interval, are you deliberately planning it at 45k or has the SA suggested it at 45k?

You meant to say EGR cleaning? At 450/-, that's really cheap! Engine flush at 700?? As far as I know, it's adding some additive / oil and running the engine for 2-3 mins. First of all, if you religiously change the oil every 10K kms, flush is NOT even required. I feel this is very expensive.

And from the rest, I could only calculate around 3000/-. Consumables cannot be charged at around 4000/- too. So please check; something doesn't add up from what you listed.

I thought it is recommended at 40k. Sa suggested to get this done at 45k.

12K for a 40K kms service is atrocious unless you have some expensive replacements, suspension overhauls etc!! Please post the bill details.

I was told that it costs 4.5K last time when I enquired. That was a month back, AVG motors, Kottayam, Kerala! You could do one thing. There are shops which sell MGP / SGP stuffs, outside of the dealer. I have seen such shops in most towns. You could buy the stuff there and give it to MA$$ for replacement. You will save a good amount.

In my opinion for the jobs done, the rates are quite decent. Who is your MASS?

This was at Mandovi, bannerghatta. Apart from the above, the service was not up to the mark. Small niggles like the new mud flaps fell off because of loose clips, horn is not working etc. Had asked all these things to be checked. Hence I feel all the more angry when I look at this service bill.
