The sensors have a theft-proof reverse nut, it is very hard to remove it without the right tool. Also, I rarely ever park my car on streets. It is parked in gated area most of the time.

Besides, I didn't buy the same item as Tejas. I looked for a very popular TPMS system in Amazon.com, with great reviews, then ordered the same item from Aliexpress.

You can install TPMS on any car.

Yesterday afternoon I had carefully managed fill all tyres with 31psi. When I took off at night, only LF showed 31, rest showed 29psi. Today morning only RR is showing 29, and rest are back at 31psi. Now I am wondering how accurate is this thing...

I had read these to be more accurate and reliable than internal sensors. But 6% error seems to be on the higher side. If it's not difficult to remove / install maybe you can check with a normal pressure gauge.

Now I am getting some idea about this. It shows 31 on all tyres during the day time. When I take off at night, it is pretty cool, it shows 29 on all tyres. It is back to 31 by 11am. Today I drove 20kms, the pressure went to 32. Generally my commute is about a km.

Hi to all the members on this thread.
I have been following your thread for a while now as I have had a love for Grand Vitaras for a long time and FINALLY got myself a silver 2008 MT 2.0 with 50k on the odo. New Tyres, new battery and a very clean vehicle that belonged to a friend of a friend.
A special thanks to Sudevji who I contacted and got his advice and help when I was checking out the prospective buy.

I will post pictures soon of my new love.
A BIG question as of now - most posts I saw of 2.0 MT earlier stated a FE of 8-10 in the city. Mine is giving only 6.8. That too with a very light foot on the accelerator and all my attempts to keep the rpm and gear shifting as required. It has 235/70 Tyres so I assume I am losing about .5 km because of that. I took my GV to Motorsport in Noida and Rahul drove it and got it checked at the pit. He says its in pristine condition and a good purchase.

What advise would you folks give on what I should look for / fix to come up to around 9km.

Both of us have/have had a Corolla and a GV.Welcome to the GV club

As far as FE goes , you can't do much except clean the plugs and set the gap to 1.1mm.

Why don't you reset the FE average by pressing and holding the button for a few secs.The meter will start calculating the FE basis your driving habits and traffic conditions

As for resetting the meter - done that. It shows at 6.7

Have been wondering if I should get the iridium plugs everyone talks about. Called ngk dealer in Delhi today, but he did not seem to have the irridiums.

Am going to check with another source tomorrow to see if he can arrange them.

Do you think the irridiums will help?

I have a 2007 AT. I changed to Iridium sparks last October. I also had the throttle body cleaned and changed all oils & fluids, along with the air filter. I used the standard paper type air filter.

Fuel average has improved by 1kmpl. Driveability has improved substantially, particularly at low speeds. I get an average of 7-8 kmpl in city. Though my city drives are short and do not involve bumper to bumper traffic. Off-roading, bad roading and hill drives gives between 7-9 kmpl.

You should definitely get about 8-9 in the city. But the 2L engine does not like inching in traffic so it is a trade-off.

Congratulations on your purchase. I got my GV in June this year, 2. MT done 1 lakh on odo. The FE is 6.6 on crowded Mumbai roads and 10 something on highway (AC on). I think this is normal for GV.

Sridhar - the irridiums mentioned by someone on a post earlier were ngk IFR5J11 but the only ones the ngk authorized dealer in Delhi has for the GV are BKR6EIX-11
I even checked NGK India website and they mention the BKR6EIX-11 as irridiums for GV.
Do you have any idea about this?

From what I remember the 5 series of plugs run cooler than the 6 series.
In the printed owner's manual for my GV IFR5J11 is recommended, though online manuals recommend the IFR6J11 . BKR6EIX-11 seems to be the nomenclature for the new models of 6 heat range irridiums.

As the engine bay is pretty crowded, I have noticed that temperature there is higher than in my other cars. So I am happy with the cooler running plugs. Besides we do not get snow and ice down here in the Deccan plateau.

You can order the plugs through the retails sales counters of Maruti.

In the case of Bosch and Champion, a higher number means a hotter plug.

In NGK , a lower number means a hotter plug.

IFR5J11 is the recommended plug for the 2.0GV.That may be because the GV generally runs in colder weather worldwide.Pune sees moderate climate at least 9 months in a year so it is fine.

I think ManuKohli should be fine even with the 6E-11 plug.

Then actually the 6 heat range should be ideal for Pune. Will change it next time sparks are due for change - 40K kms hence.

Would be interested in seeing how the 6 heat range plugs stand up in the Delhi cold.

I don't think heat range depends upon ambient temp. Spark plug heat range should be chose based on the engine characteristics, and only modified if you are modifying them. So if you advance the ignition timing, change air fuel mixture etc., go for a different heat range.
