Default Time for suspension replacement

During the last service , the service advisor recommended me for change of suspension. It was relevant as we were also struggling to get the alignment prefect. The dampers lost their life. The estimated cost of these replacement (Strut , stabilizer link, steering ball joint, rod end )including labour was Rs.15000. I thought of trying the automobile spares shop in coimbatore and fit it with a private mechanic. Today i bought the parts. Coil springs not changed as the mechanic and service advisor told me that its in fine condition. The private mechanic advised me to change the lower arm too. The cost of the parts are below.

1. Strut Assy F/LH & F/RH (No coil springs) - Rs.2150 x 2 = Rs. 4300
2. Strut Kit - Rs.550 x 2 = Rs.1100
3. Stabilizer link F/LH & F/RH - Rs.450 x 2 = Rs.900
4. Steering Ball Joint - Rs.475 x 2 = Rs.950
5. Tie rod End - Rs. 470
6. Balance rod Bush - Rs.40 x 2 = Rs.80
7. Lower Arm - Rs.1600 x 2 = Rs.3200

Total Cost . Rs.11000

For Labour, the mechanic charges are Rs.1000

Price for oil filter Rs.350 and Diesel Filter Rs.850

Its Dhanam auto spares , coimbatore . Its a well known spare parts shop in tamilnadu. It was previously called as Alagendra autos. You can get spare parts for almost every cars. In fact the dampers are hyundai parts itself. Others are not OE hyundai , but can last almost 80% of OE parts life.

If u can, try to get the price of the other parts from hyundai so that we can compare it better..

Default Tire Update

After the replacement of Suspension parts as explained in the previous post, it was time for the Tire change. I wanted to go for the comfort based Michelin XM1+ - 185/60R14 on Stock Steel Rims. No more Alloys now.
4 Tires + balancing + alignment costed - Rs.21000

Ride quality is better. Steering feedback has improved a lot compared to Yoko A drives on 195/60R14 . Road noise reduced. Happy with the purchase.

I recently spoke to a tyre shop guy in navi mumbai and he quoted Rs 4600+ for 185/65-14 Michelin XM1+ and over Rs 5300 for 185/60-14 XM1+.
Tyres are damm costly these days. A guy purchased Michelin bike tyre for his splendour for 2200.

Yupe , price tires have increased. Bridgestones are costly too. 175/65R14 ER60 costs Rs.5000 . Also not much options for 185/60R14 . Also state VAT here is 14.5% and hence costlier than other states.

Rusting Issues in my Getz

Front left door has developed some bubbles and these bubbles are slowly becoming big over time. Now bubbles are forming on driver side door as well
One more bubble on rear left door.
Contacted Sharayu Hyundai, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai and they asked me to report this issue to hyundai as my car is out of warranty. I have emailed cr@hmil.net with pictures. Waiting for their reply.
They also said the issue is because of internal rusting. I am surprised to see rusting issues in a 3+ year car.

This is the first time i am facing such issue and hence need help from you guys.

I have attached pictures of three doors. Can i repaint the doors?

First picture is of front left door. Second and third pictures are of driver side door. Fourth one is left rear door.

I got following reply from Sharayu hyundai for the email which i forwarded to cr@hmil.net:

"We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for sending your car to our workshop for the necessary repairs to be carried out, thereby giving us an opportunity to serve you.

This has reference to you concern raised to HMIL regarding your Hyundai vehicle bearing registration no. KA01XXXX Getz facing problem of bubbles on door; it will be our endeavor to provide you a lifetime comfort & luxury with the Getz.

We would also like to clarify to you that since the vehicle is beyond the purview of warranty, all necessary repairs / replacement of parts, if any have to be carried out on chargeable basis only. Please do not have any apprehensions in this regards."

What do i do now?

Djay.. Sad to see the rusting on your car very quickly. I checked my car and so far no such signs on rusting .
In your case, i think you need to do treat it as quickly as possible to avoid even more spreading. Can you find a private painter in your area?

Undead,
Good to hear that your car does not have any sign of rusting. This rust is like cancer and its difficult to treat it.

Yes i visited a painter this evening and he said bubbles will become bigger over time and will eventually burst exposing metal sheet. He asked me not to change doors as it will cost close to 15K per door.
He said he will remove inner door panel and try to rub rusted area with some material and will apply anti rust solution (he said some primer).
If the metal portion is cut/peeled off during this process, he will perform some wielding and paint the door from outside. I haven't heard about it and not sure how he is going to do it.
Planning to drop car on monday.

Any advise?
I could not take the car to painter as he is not available from long time.
Can some one suggest a good painting shop in and around navi mumbai?
I would like to get the rusting issue sorted as fast as possible as its really sad to see bubbles growing bigger and bigger.

djay, I think you better let the car in the Hyundai service center itself. Just don't mind the extra thousand rupees. Finish the work and make sure it doesn't spread.

Guys at Hyundai service center are suggesting me to replace both front doors. It will cost over 40K for new doors + painting + labour charges. I cannot claim insurance.

I don't feel the need for spending such an amount on replacing doors.
If you see the pics, only a small portion of door is rusted. Rest of the area is fine.
So i am searching for a paint shop which can remove the rust and paint it.
