Esteem diesel was avaliable with Peugeot TUD5 engine that was also fitted in Zen D. This engine entered india through Peugeot 309D. This is the same diesel engine that was also used by Hyundai for Accent for a short period. The engine is 1527cc, 57bhp. Esteem was sluggish with this engine, but at the same time the fuel effeciency was quite good.
