Is there any air leak (minor) happening somewhere in the fuel rail/injector/EGR/Turbo? can this be ruled out?

That was checked. Infact all engine parameters were checked. Everything is in the limit, but some things are near limit. So no service light will come.
He has adjusted a few things. i have to report tomorrow morning cold start.
MEanwhile we went on a long drive and told him about hard clutch, and rough gearshift.
So he recommended clutch change. . Hopefully with that all problems of rough gearshift and hard clutch should go away
So tomorrow that job will be done, and idle oscillating issue will be looked at if its still there.
He has also asked dealership for providing ECU dust cover.
Very helpful and knowledgeable chap. Did not give any "goli" about clutch hardness, gearshift etc., saying "Aisa hi hoto hai, safari mein to hard hai etc., etc."

Infact surprise of surprise, he also heard a faint "krrrr" which he says is due to old EGR. My car has the old 70mm EGR. He says he was involved with R&D for development of 90mm EGR, which will be put in the car tomorrow. This will make engine smoother.
I asked him whether all safari's get this Krrr noise, he told me only some did but to counter that, they came out with a bigger EGR in the newer safari's and it will be changed in mine tomorrow along with clutch.
As for me, i could make that noise out only when he pointed it out to me, and then removed the EGR hosepipe and then again ran the car.

All in all, the white elephant is getting ready to get to the top of the world!

Tsk:

It is a honor to be part of the Tata Testing team.

Jokes apart, atleast they are following up and trying to resolve the issues with the 2.2 liter engine, which is a good thing. Hopefully the newer ones will be more bulletproof, kinda like the old Sumo 2.0 IDI engine is.

That explains I have June 2008 manufactured Safari and never heard that famous Krr noise discussed on the 2.2 VTT thread but may be I am used to it.
If you happen to meet him can you please find since when 90 MM EGR was introduced also if you can provide part numbers for old and new it will be helpful.

Since your Safari is going to workshop ask them for the ongoing upgrades. I think the Pune Chap must be knowing it.

Once I get my parts inovice, I will tell you number, but its quite easy to find out. The older EGR is significantly smaller than the newer one, which looks huge in comparison.
And not all older EGRs give this krrr noise.
Only some do. So its possible that even with older EGR you do not get krrr noise.

RPM issue is sorted. Problem with ECU parameters. Rest he checked all engine performance and injector pressure like parameters, and everything is normal.
So I go to Leh with her, if issue comes then we check it out after I come back.
However this time I suspect its not going to come again.

Every injector comes with its own set of codes, if you do not match that in the ECU, there can be issues. Here some codes were mismatching. for example ECU was tuned for code A, when it should have been code 4 in one case.
