I sincerely doubt the local dealers head mechanic has any clue what an ECU code is. All he had to do with the earlier 2.0 TCIC engine was take a hammer and knock the engine head a few times and it fixed most problems. Now they want him to start learning how to use a laptop, how dare they !

So I go to Leh with her, if issue comes then we check it out after I come back.
However this time I suspect its not going to come again.

Nobody on this forum has faced this issue, neither has any TASS etc., (Dada ludhiana, Sterling Noida. Autolinks gurgaon, Sanya Delhi) seen any safari with this issue. My white elephant is truly an unique specimen, one of a kind.

Well you have been calling it a white elephant for quiet some time ( out of affection ofcourse). How does the name Airawat sound (Indra's the mythical white elephant ???)

Considering Indra's love of opulance, I think I will call mine the White Elephant only. God knows what luxury demands she will start making once the namkaran happens

hey good to know your white elephant getting back to shape and that pune chap is really knowledgable person.

One thing that comes up is does dealers service assistance really have that perfect knowledge of ECU settings with new technology, as what your problem thought one of its kind still makes one feel tata needs to give substance training if such of complaints rises around.
Awaiting to hear more from your coming Leh trip.Have a safe journey.

Default Finally I get her back

The clutch was hard, so changed under warranty!
This is one thing good about tata. No grief for warranty replacements.
Now the clutch feels like a santro clutch! No kidding!
The idle surging has not come back, but 100kms is too less to conclusively tell.

Have placed order for ECU cover also, If it comes before my trip, well and good!

Default The idler ghost is back!

Its very pleasant in Delhi today, for a change.
The white elephant is also feeling happy, so she has started singing again.
Oscillations now appear to be 768-800-832-864 type.
Slower and more melodious that the curt grr grr earlier.
They come only when AC on now, without AC no issues.
I will tell the engineer, that 200kms after his software adjustment, the ECU is back to its old ways.
But now I am not going to get it fidgeted with again, and will see to it once I am back from the trip.

My friends Bolero had a similar idle surge issue which was tracked down to a bad alternator. Changing the alternator fixed the issue. Maybe related to the alternator increasing the rpm as it requires(or thinks) it requires more current.

Alternator change did not have any effect, so they put old one back in. I suspect something to with AC, as this problem is there now with AC on.
Maybe the AC pully is putting a higher than normal load on engine?

When i read your title, the first thing that came to my mind was "Oh NO, Not again"! just when i thought that everything was sorted out & you are enjoying your best.

but when i read the post, i was happy as the issue is minor and you are not bothered with it anymore. again wishing you 'happy motoring'.

@tsk1979: I would not to touch the WE with iffy repairs so near a long journey. Unless the problem is severe just go out and enjoy. Come back and attend to the demands of WE

I was told recently by my service advisor that the intermittent surging issue ( I experienced it for a few minutes before it went away) happens if the contacts are loose/dust or something else interferes with the sensors.

Maybe you have an elusive and intermittent loose contact somewhere
