Default Move on! Bye to my IKON

Today after 5 years of great driving around, my Ford Ikon got a new owner. This has been my longest serving car so far.

It was exactly 5years back that one night the new Ikon was delivered to my home by the dealer. From day one till about a week back it was a great companion on the roads. It has been pleasure to drive it around, quite right for the city and the highway alike. Great to handle and versatile on city roads, I would rate it best in its class. A FE of just 10 in city – most of my drives in city are short in 1-7km range, hence cannot complain. But on long highway drives it returned an amazing 16-18! And it rules the road too. Used to get service done at Cauvery Ford from where I bought it – generally the service has been good; but on one occasion they did a bad job and I had to go back.

Given a chance I would have kept it for some more time; but with company lease expiring, I had to change to a new one. So here I wish all the best to the new owner – who incidentally came thru a T-BHP classified ad! So let me close this short one with a snap of the car driving away with the new owner as I managed to catch on the mobile phone!

Truly heart breaking situation my friend. I dont know what to say.

You get so attached to your ride that it feels as if you never want to give it away. But fortunately or unfortunately we have to move on and there is always the next best one which will come in our lives.

Let us know about your next car.

The Ikon is drivers delight to drive in city and h/way. I have been using this since one year and when compared to my earlier car, man this is amazing. It does take care of its passengers with ease in both city and h/way. The FE figures is also same as yours in both the cases. Yes, it is often too difficult when you part your way with the most loved car. But life has to move on. Do updat us on your next by.

Thanks folks.

Yes I hope to write in detail about my new buy soon. I need a little time to pen it down to do full justice. Yes the IKON was a delight and it was sad to let it go; but my new one is an absolute delight and that is the consolation.

Any guesses on the perfect next one?

Me too is preparing for a good bye for my 2004 Flair. If you don't mind me asking, what was the price you got for it since I have to quote a figure for my car soon ? Was it a 1.6 or 1.3 ?

Please PM me if required.

@PathFinder : Dont tell me that was the only snap you had of the car?!
How has your experience with the car been so far? Any other expenses, besides the regular maintenance? Also, i believe you hadnt mentioned which variant it is.

It is heartbreaking when you have to let go of your car, no matter how long you owned it. I should know, i have parted with 5 cars.

Benny, with a FE of 10Kmpl in the city, it has got to be the 1.3. What do you say ?

Looking at the other clue.. with a fuel efficiency of about 16-18kmpl on highway, i feel it has to be a 1.3. The city figures could be misleading.

In my experience, the Ikon is an expensive car to maintain. As soon as my loan is cleared, I will sell it off (4 years 50K kms). Just hoping that the price I am offered is decent.

I loved my IKON, but did not necessarily mean to be a Ford fan!
