@jatinpatel
Will test Scorponok, and then decide the course of treatment if need be. When we had the mini meet there was absolutely no noise from the engine bay. But it was only a day or two later that i sat inside and then realised the noise was not only very much there but had increased from a soft you may miss it noise to a very audible extremely bugging sound. So this time will check for sound from the outside as well as inside. Now the ball is in @dotsaab's court we shall meet one of these days at get to the bottom of this.

@mdsaab

you observed this noise after the tensioner change or prior ?
you referring to the same meet where guderian had also joined ?

cause if the noise observed is post tensioner change then might be something more serious too.

@dot have attached the PCV gas flow layout for R18A, if the layout is seen then you can see that the Blow by vapors are taken out from the crankcase through the breather pipe and sent to IM, hence this could not root be a cause of your problem IMO.

The Dark black arrow is of Blow By vapors
and Hollow black ones are of fresh air.

Maybe the lot manufactured during May-2007 does not have this problem.

I have driven over all types of roads, mostly highways.
It is 100% self-driven, so it is treated well!
Though I have put it into some big potholes as high speed some times.
Most of the time I hypermile/drive-very-softly, though I get aggressive at times.

I plan to finish more than 2 lakh kms over 10 years without major problems, hope I make it!

I agree, PCV valves makes ticking noise, not grr grr ones. However it is a good idea to change the PCVs if possible. Here is a link which was pretty informative in my opinion, maybe you have seen this already.

Replacing the PCV valve

@dot
thanks for sharing the link very informative indeed
but still any of the criteria dont match with your profile of problem.
Your scorpo is smooth to drive good power delivery nice fuel economy and no blue smoke
so how is the PCV a culprit ?

I would suggest you to keep this at the last of your checking list.

I completed Delhi to Bangalore yesterday in 3 days (2400 kms approx) with my Civic. What a wonderful drive on the amazing routes and scenery. Had expected to have a few flat tyres and half the body kit missing by the end of the journey. Ironically, the car came out unscratched. I reached Bangalore at around 10 pm yesterday (30th may) and it was raining and some part of the roads were flooded (around a feet high). What an irony - 2400 odd kms with no obstacles, and at the end of journey in Bangalore city, the car was crawling on a flooded road. I kept up the revv and navigated slowly knowing that if I stopped or slowed down, water may sipped in the exhaust tip. Fortunately, nothing happened, and a great relief (because if the car had to break down at the finish line, it would have been a big embarrassment).

So, after 2400 kms in 3 days, what should I be checking out for? Oil change, Wheel alignment and tyres rotation etc?

And Bangaloreans, please tell me which Honda Service center is nearest to HAL airport?

Wow, thats some drive; which route did you take. Are you driving back too?

After long drives to B'lore city, its always traffic that greets you.

The closest service station neat HAL airport, IIRC, is Whitefield Honda, near old Madras road, Ring road crossing. Oil change is a good idea along with oil filter and air filter inspection. Tyres may not need rotation if done recently. If existing alignment is fine, maybe that is not needed also.

I took the GQ route:
Delhi > Gurgaon > Jaipur > Udaipur > Ahmedabad > Baroda > Surat > Ghodbander > Thane > Pune > Kohalpur > Dharwad > Bangalore

I might be driving back in 1.5 to 2 years time. Will be staying in Bangalore for quite some time!

Thanks for the info on Whitefield honda. Will visit today for a checkup and complete wash/dry clean (interiors).

This was before the tensioner change. and yes at the Guderian meet. Little update on Chicca :- I went through the policy and it clearly states in B&W that the rate of depreciation for a vehicle under 3 years will stand at 15% So that is now very clear. When i spoke to the SA yesterday, he said that the surveyor had come and passed all that was necessary and that the parts (bootlid, bumper) should be ordered already however will take 7 or more days to arrive. after which they will be painted and attached. Till then any necessary repair work will take place. I asked for an estimate and he said that due to it being the birthday of the honda insurance chap. he left early and has not given the estimate as yet, and that he will call me and give me the estimate today. UNBELIEVABLE! I think i will pay a visit to the ASC and take a look at Chicca especially the lights to see if they need to be replaced. if not too expensive would prefer changing both left side ones. Overall i am not happy with the service received so far. our regular guy is doing a great job and is supporting me through all queries etc. but the other members of his team have a real laid back attitude and that is not comforting at all. After all this i have no estimate and no clue as to when Chicca will finally come home.

This is most disgusting and distressing. So laid back..

I am afraid, your experience and my recent experience there shows Honda in a very poor light.

That is great!
I dream of driving to Delhi from Kanyakumari someday!

(The longest I have done is Sivakasi to Goa then to Bombay, around 2,200 kms in my old City-1.5 11 years back).

Nice drive! I might be heading up to Gurgaon "soon" and I plan to take the same route up in my BQ (joining the GQ at Pune instead of Kolhapur). Your initial report is good news considering there are no surprises on the road at least between Pune and Gurgaon.

My experience with Honda Service has always been like this. They seem eager and have a very eager demanour but they just lack the attention to detail and obsession with resolving issues. The only positive experience I've had is when they had sent over that mobile crew two weeks in a row and eventually fixed the roof panel rattle. Thank the good Lord (and Honda engineers and factory-men) that the car itself is very reliable and doesn't need much work.

For instance, BQ went in for her 4th service (15k km) just a couple of days back. Out of the 5 issues I reported, 3 have definitely not been resolved. One of the other two I'm not very sure of as yet. They fixed only the smelly AC problem (apparently there was a ton of fungus on the outside of the compressor)! I'll post a quick summary soon on my ownership thread.

Regards,
spadix
