definitely cliche'd, but.... congrats, n_c..!!! an excellent choice there, buddy..... the octy is a reliable, fast, trouble-free, and sturdy car....and i'm talking about the diesel only..!!! well, the petrol versions are good too, but the 1.9 tdi makes your smile, a wide grin, when you look at your coffers after paying all those fuel bills.....

well, i'm a petrolhead, but i just love the new generation diesels.....so, welcome to the club of diesel lovers....

enjoy your car, man....wish you many many miles of happy motoring....

p.s- just watch out for the a/c ckt- i've heard that a certain component had some reliability issues in the earlier octys. hope yours isn't one of them...

Thumbs up

Congrats on your latest car...
We use an Octavia TDI for car pooling for going to college. The way it accelerates i dont think any petrol car except RS/Accord can match up to it. The turbo whistle is PURE MUSIC!!.. Its one of the fastest cars i have ever travelled in, and although the rear leg room is a bit lesser than even Astra, this car surely makes for a Great buy in the 11-12 lac range. I dream of owning one some day.

Cool

Guys,

thanks for all your good wishes fellas !! and yes finally its happened !!

the alloys have arrived on the car with a new set of tyres. I was on a budget and had to decide on 15 or 16 inches ..was inclined to 15 inchers but there wasnt a wide choice in 15 and whatever was there was common ...so when i lay my eyes on these ..my eyes lit up....

and yes - you fellas have seen these alloys before.....

the tyre choices were -

1) Goodyear GS-D3 - at 5800 / tyre i was going way over budget.
2) Bridgestone potenza G3 - 6500 / tyre .. so...
3) Michellins Pilots - 8000 / tyre ....hahahha

and goodyear GS D2 were not avaialble though the rates were 4500 / tyre...and i had an offer on 4700/ tyre for Goodyear NCT5. i haggled and got the NCT 5 for 4400/tyre.

so the car is shod with Goodyear NCT5 205/55 R16. and i spoke to the old Man on the forum before finalising the tyres and got a thumbs up from him ..so settled for the NCT5's.

here is the pic..with help from Rudrasori..thanks mate !

first impressions - Ride quality is down slighty as is fuel efficiency.will be back with a detailed report on the change in handling and tyre impressions later when i get time to test it fully.

So do you guys like it ?

oops before i forget a big THANKS to Manson for his help.

Car is looking good. I know was telling you to go for 5 double-spoke type alloys, but these chunky alloys suit the car just fine. Will have to see her in person though.
Smart choice on the NCT5s too. On the limit the Eagle F1s or G3s would have been better, but I doubt you are going to be on the edge too often, so it makes perfect sense. The ride quality and tyre noise are absolutely fanatstic with these.

And I'm glad I could play a part in convincing you to go for the TDi. With all the money you save on fuel bills, you can buy me lotsa beers!

Wow NC... that really are some stunning alloys there.

I recollect the last time we met and you'd shown me these same kind of alloys on a red lancer that you wanted to fit on your car. They really do look stunning on your babe.

As far as ride quality is concerned, i don't think the deterioration would be much, since the profile isn't too bad at all. NCTs are more comfort oriented, but are good performers either ways. You should get a good balance between performance and ride in them.

Overall, they look good. Have a great blast with her.
