| My brother owns an i10 IRDE and he gets about 13.5-14 in city(Bangalore). I had also driven it and its quite peppy. Not sure about the kappa F.E. Between A-star and i10, i10 anyday, its miles forward.

| Thanks for the input guys. We have decided to go for i10 Kappa Magna ![]() This would explain the better drive ability of i10 iRDE. BHP: iRDE --> 66.6/5500 Kappa --> 80/5200 Torque: iRDE --> 10.1/2800 Kappa -->11.4/4000 iRDE produces it's peak torque at 2800RPM, where as Kappa does it at a higher 4000RPM. |

| I was eagarly following this thread since i found it interesting So is it the conclusion that kappa mileage will be less than that of iRDE ? As the peak torgue is at a higher rpm(somewhat similar to my Swift petrol) it translates to a revv happy engine but at the cost of frequent gear shifting to get that power while overtaking |

| BHPian | My i10 Kappa returns the following mileage : City Driving with A/C all time : 14.5 Highway Driving with A/C, 80% time : 16.5 The above figures were returned before the second service. I am yet to check the mileage after the second service.

Sankar, one of my colleagues had an I10 Kappa and he claimed 12-14 kmpl in city based on light to bumper-to-bumper traffic in city, and 16-18 kmpl on highways with some spirited driving on highways with a/c.

| Senior - BHPian | I bought the i10 kappa Automatic last week. Should tank her up today and check the FE. However, seeing the kms done on the odo and the fuel gauge, i think i'm gonna get a bad average. Fingers crossed.

| Kappa definitely has lesser milage compare to iRDE. 100% AC on, & in a stop go city traffic, kappa will give around 12 KMPL (to be practical). As Mpower says, 1.1 is better than kappa in city driving (also give more FE & less costly). So, IMO for city driving 1.1iRDE is the way to go.

| Senior - BHPian | DAMN!!!! After the initial full tank on my i10 AT kappa after buying it, i just did another full tank at 137 kms (in one week). Guess how much petrol went in? 23 liters!!! That's 5.95 average. Both times fuel was filled at same pump and stopped at first automatic click of the nozzle. I was standing and watching the filling process both times. So no chance of cheating. I did rip the car around a bit. But how much can you rip an AT i10? And the average shouldn't get so low. My tyres are upgraded to 185/60/14. Tyre pressure is 28 (recommended by the tyre guy) and the i10 manual says to maintain 32. Even that shouldn't make so much of a difference IMO. What could be happening?

| @tejas... its too low. Why dont you take it to Hyundai themselves. Automatics are hungry but this is too much to fathom.

But I thought of throwing in some thing to ponder about! I was going through exactly what you are going through some 3 months ago. I had selected the i10 1.2 Magna costing about 4.43 lacs. I then checked out the Indica Vista TDI aqua which costs 4.57 and has almost same features as i10 magna except rear power windows but then it has fog lamps. The Vista is a diesel and gives a mileage of 14.5 in city, so wins hands down against the i10 as far as FE is concerned. I already own a zen and spacewise i10 isn't an upgrade at all whereas the Vista is a spacious sedan without a boot. So chose the Vista and have done 5000 kms already with it with 2 long trips already. With the i10 I dont I would have done even 2500 kms mainly due to its Petrol FE. ![]() Cheers, Nitin
