Default How much is i10 1.2 Kappa's fuel efficiency?

What's the realistic intra city fuel efficiency of i10 1.2, first hand information would be cool. We are considering an i10 Kappa Magna. I hate to say this, fuel economy would play a major role in the decision.

And what is the actual efficiency figures of i10 1.1 iRDE? Kappa is supposed to deliver 4 to 5 percent more in terms of fuel efficiency compared to the 1.1, is it true?

Myi10 1.1iRDE Era gives me 16.XX kmpl in city driving with 90% AC on. It gave me almost 19kmpl when I took it out on Expressway to Lonavala and back.

takecare and drive safely

My i10 Sportz just completed the 1.2K running in. It has consistently given me 12.5-13 with 100% City driving and AC.

My i10 iRDE gives me 12-13 in the city, but I don't drive with a light foot. Gave me 18+ on the highway including hills.

Don't know how true this is, but the general feeling among owners when talking in the service station is that iRDE gives better mileage than the Kappa. Also the in-city drivability is better in the Irde, this I can personally vouch.

Thank you guys Much appreciated! So definitely the iRDE is more fuel efficient than the Kappa. I'm inclined towards the Kappa as it offers a few more horses which would come handy while on highway cruises. Dad is leaning towards iRDE.

The highest figure of 13kmpl for the Kappa is reported by by adityamunshi and mobike's newbie driver gets 11.5kmpl. The highest intra city figure for iRDE is 16kmpl reported by rkavthekar; anandtheleo gets 13kmpl with a bit of spirited driving.

Does the iRDE and Kappa have a gap of 3kmpl between then during city cycle? Is 13kmpl the highest possible figure inside city for an i10 Kappa?

I assume any non-teambhp driving would mean an increase of 2-3kmpl....lol just kidding.

Hi Sankar,

Though you are much interested in the i10 Kappa,i thought that putting my i10 IRDE mileage would be helpful for you to judge.

Model - Hyundai i10 Magna O (DATE OF PURCHASE : 18 Feb 2008)
Mileage (CITY with 100% AC) - 12-13 KMPL
Mileage (Highway with 50% AC) - 15-16 KMPL

I am rather a sedate driver,prefer cruising.

Hope it helps.

Would suggest you go for the Kappa itself. The reason being there is not much price difference between the two and the Kappa being a newer technology.

Also the mileage difference is going to be not more than 1.5-2 kmpl in city with the AC on. Also you get that extra horses

I own a santro and have driven both the irde and the Kappa for sometime(my friends). The Kappa is definitely a value for money hatch.

rkavthekar, I would love to know how you get 16 in the city. I've been driving for my i10 iRDE for a year now and the best I can get is 14.5 (Avg 14), with 50% AC.

Yep would go for the Kappa 1 to 2 km difference is not too significant when compared to 12 extra horses. Man, later i would have to spend a fortune to coax the 1.1 engine to make these 12 litlle ponies for me.

Is Hyundai giving any discount on the i10? ********* had put up on their site that they're giving upto 34k discount comprising of cash discount, free insurance, extended warranty etc. Does anyone have any updates regarding this?

We had planned to go checkout the i10 this evening but instead went to Maruti to see the A Star first.

Sankar,
My i10 Kappa has never given more than 12.5 Kmpl on 20 km ride everyday with 100% A/C in heavy city traffic.
iRDE is definitely more fuel efficient. The extra horses you talk off make very little material difference in real driving. As a matter of fact, I have always felt that santro felt more responsive in City traffic than i10 does.

Sankar, between the i10 and the A-Star, i would recommend the i10 anyday. My friends who were considering the A-Star came away terribly dissapointed with the interior space in the A-Star, and settled for a Wagon R instead.

Doesn't Swift give this much fuel eco in city? Extra horses would make a difference on the highways, the 145kmph top speed of the 1.1 feels a bit limited, more than the top speed it would be the acceleration offered by the 1.2 that would make a difference.

We were too The boot space is infact 0. Put a sub there and it's gone! But i'm in love with the design though!! Also the equipment!

After looking at all responses, I am happy, infact very happy to note that my i10 is giving me excellent FE. I am not sure, if I do something extraordinarily different driving the most of us. So looks like my case is an exception and I am not complaining about it! :-).
Yes, I am light footed, anticipate traffic to use minimal brakes. Also, thankfully and touchwood, I have been able to manage my work timings so as to avoid peak traffic hours. I also ensure that I fill petrol from a particular petrol pump and use IFTEX addatives every time I do a tankful.

@Sankar - Personally, i10 (Kappa or iRDE) is better option than Maruti Astar. However, would strongly suggest you to have test drive of Astar and i10 and take a final decision.

takecare and drive slowly
