Default Skoda Octavia vRs - Laal Pari - 10000km update

7th July 2008.
I got my Laal Pari.

Have been enjoying it ever since.

Likes :

1. Engine - Without a Doubt , loves to rev and loves to roar.
2. Handling - Handles like a car should. High speed cornering too not an issue.
3. Steering - After Driving the New Honda City, the steering seems perfect. Good for both city and highway.
4. Tyres - Low profile plus the suspension do give a hard feel to the ride but i'm perfect with it.. stick to the road pretty well and inspire confidence.
5. Xenon Lights - Light up the road pretty well. Don't really need to use high beams.
6. Sunroof : Amazing feature. Brilliant to use during the nights.
7. Rain sensing wipers : surprisingly have worked pretty well .
8. Reverse sensors : Though no screen but the voice is quite audible and helps a lot for reversing.
9. Boot space : A lot even after 2 12" Subwoofers in a big box.
10. Headlamp Washers : Though i dont use them , but look pretty good.
11. Front under bumper : Gives the Octavia a completely different look.
12. practically no noise at Idle : sometimes my friends say , Why the hell are you saving petrol . start the beast , i tell them it already is on.
13. surprisingly amazing FE considering a 1800 cc engine with a turbo charger and 150 bhp power. ( A Tankful on 93 octane runs about 550 kms)
14. The white surround in the speedo looks great when lit up green in the night.
15. Tank Like Built.
16. Lumbar support : Helps a lot to keep the back alright. Helped me greatly when i had a backache
17. Dead pedal a very useful thing
18. Cruise Control - helps a lot in places you are bound to find speed interceptors. One can easily increase and decrease cruise speed.
19 . A/C - Pretty Effective.
20. Space under the steering column. for small stuff.
21. Leather does not make you shout even if the car is standing under the sun for a lot of time.

Dislikes :

1. Front bumper a bit too low - Have to be very careful for the same.
2. No OVRM Retract ( found on its competitors)
3. Harsh ride - I am ok with it but many aren't
4. poor rear visibility due to large c pillars
5. Manual adjust of the seats. ( Unlike the Laura)
6. Horns generally do not last long.
7. Interior lighting not present in the rear.
8. Alloys are a pain to maintain. They get dirty really soon.

Showroom Visit :

Visit 1. Wheel Alignment , Activating Anti Hijack and some problem in the HU ( Direct connected to the Memory and vice versa - HU used to get reset after removal and insertion of key )

Visit 2. Right indicator on the fendor ( Rat cuts the wire away ) , Remove the seat lock and making the front passenger seat go a bit more back.

Visit 3. Today Normal Servicing (10k kms)

Showroom - Continental Auto, Mathura Road
Service Details : 9840km.

Helix Ultra 5w/40 Engine oil. 4.5L - 3807.00
Windscreen Wash Fluid - 85.00
Oil Filter 331.69
Battery Water - 18.00
Consumables - 53.00

Total : 4294.69

Total Tax : 889.67 ( inclusive Vat Sales, Labour Service Tax, S. Tax , E. Cess, HE. Cess)

Rounded off Total : 5114.

Service Experience : The car was promised at 5 pm but i am here typing the details with the car standing down.
I got the car at 2.30Pm.

The car was properly cleaned in and out.
Told them to replace horn, check noise from brakes, door rattling and a few more.

They gave a test drive of the car after the service and before getting it cleaned.

Overall Experience : Surprisingly good . ( It really helps if you have contacts in a dealership)

I live in Shakti Nagar.
They were changed about a week or two back. Traffic Strictness :P
They are plain and simple now.

We are at quite neighbors, I reside in Kalyan Vihar.

Spotted the car many times at Shastri Nagar Mandir in mornings while comuting to office, due to blackend Taillight it was indeed a distinct one. With due regards, never liked those blackened tailight thingy.. Good to see you reverted back to normal one.

Initially i did. But then it was getting on me.
The stock lights are the best.

Nice car, nice report.

Just one question, what is the service interval for the Skoda RS?? I misplaced my service books so just wanted to know. Is it the same as the diesel Skoda's (every 7500kms)??

BTW, where are the drag pics?? And who won when you put up against the Celica(?)

The service interval earlier was 7500kms.
Now for both the Petrol and Diesel engines, its 10000 km.

The Drag pics are not allowed as they depict street racing.

Yes.
Have taken it till Neemrana and Back a few months back

Amazing performance.
Speeds till 210.
Rock solid.
Very less noise. Only the normal tyre and high revving engine roar.
Excellent handling.
Superb Braking and the list goes on.

excellent abhinav. Car is really treating you well and the reason is that you take care of her like a princess. I completely agree with all your 21 likes and 8 dislikes.
and yeah people always said whats the use of cruise control. Well now we have the anwser. Its the perfect feature to maintain 50 kph speed on roads where these interceptors reside like dreadful monsters. Infact on highways cruise control gives unimaginable F.E.
