MC ,your acrobatics will shut the mouths of Bolero critics. Your 2WD Bolero has climbed spots which seem to be treacherous even for 4X4s. Congratulations!

Thanks for the compliment! I did get stuck at 3 places as the differential or the underbody got stuck and for the lack of 4x4. But with some help and towing it came out. Also I was very scared to take quite a few high approach angle ascents/dips as I didn't want to damage my intercooler but was pleasantly surprised to see that the bumper design actually protects the intercooler well in those situations. This was my first MGE and one thing I learnt that this vehicle with 4x4 can actually be a big killer in the market. Behram saab and Spike Arrestor, are you listening ?

Saar, Why oh why don't you do something about it? Or am I the only one fervently wishing for something of this sort.

No, you are not alone, friend. There are several fellow members and non-members wishing for something of this sort--only that we are left at the mercy of hooligans at Mahindra who won't show any mercy at all.

It is too premature to comment anything now, no point in giving promises. In Malayalam, there is a saying "Even if you promise an elephent, never promise hope". So..

@milecruncher:

When you replaced you chasis, did you get the same chasis number or did you have to endorse the new chasis number on the RC Book?

My new chassis as well as the new engine have the same chassis and engine numbers respectively.

This is because the engine and chassis that comes as spare don't have any number inscribed on them. On replacement in the concerned vehicle, the numbers are punched in the new chassis / engine and removed from the accidental part respectively.

@Anirudha -

I have been through the full 24 pages of your ownership report and have to
say you must have phenomenal patience because in this day and time when people spend 7.3(shows you that i have gone through all the pages ) lakhs and still need to run pillar to post because of the problems posed due to our great Indian quality from mahindra's and tata's and Royal en-fields though they are improving they need to be taken way further.

But since what we reap is what we sow i guess the decision to take a Uv comes part and parcel with these niggles but as you said the network and spare costs are the aces here.

P.s The ladkh trips and Mge along with the chassis and Engine (spine and heart) changes done. Hope it lasts you a long while.

And i have question for you i am in a dilemma actually i am looking for a sub-10 lakh Diesel Uv/Suv/Mpv to be bought in january 2011( the newer registration date , Holy days etc) My Choices are Bolero Vlx , Safari Lx/ex, Innova is out of my price range can you suggest any other choices or Pick Between bolero or Safari (i know you felt it was as if riding from a storey above but still enlighten me)

Thanks for the compliment.
Before deciding on which vehicle to buy, you need to answer the following questions to yourself:
  1. Why do you need an SUV/UV
  2. Which vehicle are you most comfortable driving

These should give you the broad direction towards the vehicle you should buy.

This is the passion most of us share with our beloved rides, isn't it ?

Cheers,

Post Re: Bolero Storm: First Black VLX in India-Now with a new Heart

With a heavy heart I would like to let everyone know that the Storm left me today for the abode of its new owner. It was an eventful ownership of 22.5 months over 38.5K kilometres and we shared some bitter sweet memories.

The Storm will always remain dear to me, but I guess one needs to move on in life.
