Yeah, Warranty. What Warranty?!!

There is no effect on warranty - even in the worst case, if you have bills to prove what oil you used, you are good to go as the oil is of the recommended SAE grade and API compliance (CI-4 is backwards compatible with CH-4).

Hes given me another 2 to 3k km for changing the brake pads. Asked me to drive for another 1000 odd km just to make sure that there are no other issues. So will have to go make an unscheduled brake pad replacement visit sometime soon.
But all this made the brake lockup at times, putting ABS to sleep? Or is it that ABS was sensing movement in the left while the right is locking up? If that is the case, the car should pull right? And even then ABS should independently act on the right wheel!

Yours is an all-disc model Verna right?

Yes all round disc.
From what I understood, there was excessive pressure being applied on the left wheel, causing it to lock. Effectively speaking the ABS was not being allowed to work properly on that side. They said there was accumulation of air on the left side and thats why they have bled the brakes now. Maybe someone with more technical knowledge can explain this in a better way.

Did you try hard braking on an empty stretch after all this was done? I am somehow not really satisfied with the explanation.

Braking has improved. Pedal feels better. Steering doesnt vibrate. No tire screeching and locking. But brake pads need to be changed in the next 2k km.

Default 1st Birthday - Pampered @ Carz Spa

I had planned this about 3 months earlier, and was getting excited as the D-day closed in. YES! My precious rocket is turning ONE, and what a blissful one year has that been!

Exactly one week after the rocket chose me, I met someone in a wedding- it didn't take much time to realize we are meant to be together. Our courtship was primarily long drives on the East Coast Scenic Highway, up until a spot after Kalpakkam and drive back- a drive of about ~150 KM (Yeah, yeah... now you know how my car clocked 21000 in one year- of which I was not in the country for 3 months!).

I don't have a count of the times I talked amorously - about Engines, Turbo, ICE, Fuel quality, Road sense and etiquette - during these long drives. Sometimes it will be through the ECR, sometimes through the OMR. Sometimes up until a few Kilometers to Pondicherry, and sometimes just a short drive. But it had "Drive" in it, no doubt! I still can't forget the look on her face when I had to brake suddenly, thanks to bovine jr. hoping across the highway, and an Innova rear-ended me. Up until this day, her eyes would dart at the left ORVM to see if there any one behind to kiss our precious car's back whenever I brake a bit harder than normal.

She started noticing cars, and started pointed out exotics, weird and wacky contraptions, and of course, other Getz CRDi rockets that we come across. She even knew enough to advice her dad against buying a Honda Jazz because it is over priced, and suggested him to get an i20 - a Petrol, not a Diesel, because his running is pretty low! Hell, she has even sat patiently in IgNite reading car magazines, while Raghav and I talk car stuff over and change the oil or do something on the car!

After a few minor and major hurdles, there was a point of time where it seems we have indeed fallen apart. And that's when fate brought me back to India in January- my dad was not keeping well, and my family needed me. We eventually got back in touch, and with whatever little time I could find after balancing between work and taking care of dad, we continued our drives - though they grew shorter and farther apart.

Cut a long story short, we ironed out all the hurdles on our way and the families got together - only to find her family knows mine. With dad's health in mind, we had a quick engagement last week, with the wedding planned for Spetember. And we are celebrating the birthday of the capable black beauty-and-beast-in-one-package on the 18th of June, almost a week later. The rocket has been an integral part of our story so much that we know we can never part with this black phoenix!

And so for the big birthday bash, I made an appointment with Carz Spa for Friday morning, and took the car to Mr. Pavan's team at about 10:30 AM. After a brief intro, I decided to get the Complete Car Detailing package, and 4-step paint protection. I also wanted the anti-glare treatment for the windshield, but was told it is not needed now. Special mention to Mr. Rajesh, who I interacted with right from the time they opened their outlet about 3 months back, as part of my plan for this day!

Let the pictures do the talking now...

Lucky you! we don't have such a facility here in Kolkata. They did a brilliant job for sure.

Get another set of nimbu mirchi. Take care of your ride and drive safe.

I went in for the Complete Car Detailing package (Rs. 2400) and 4-Step paint protection (Rs. 2800). I was given a discount on the final bill.

(No, nothing special on the discount, anyone gets it!)
