Smile Re: Cara Mia Fiat Linea!

Congratulations Ravi Sir on completing the epic trip.

Just calculated, you were on road for 114 hrs i.e 4.75 days driving. Thats a great achievement for traversing around 6.5k kms. Where did you halt on your return trip from Mt Abu to B'lore, if it was in Mumbai/Thane would have loved to meet you in person.

Thanks, ghodlur. I didn't halt anywhere, just continued my driving. I passed through Ghodbunder/Thane/Mumbai between 1:15 am and 2:30 am yesterday and continued my drive to Bangalore. I took a long break at Sai Food Court, near Kolhapur, for morning ablutions and breakfast. We will meet when I stay at Mumbai in future.

Smile Car-Keeping My Linea!

Today, I started the work of car-keeping of my Linea - just like house-keeping - comprising many parts like boot/checking fluids and battery, engine bay, interior, alloy wheels, exterior and waxing and polishing to get rid of the muck accumulated from different parts of India.

I spent about coupla hours to clean the boot, check the tools and check all oil/fluids and battery. My Linea consumed about 300 ml of Selenia K engine oil for 2,309 km. Although the coolant was at the maximum level, I added a few ml to bring to a few mm above the maximum level. I also topped up the windshield cleaning fluid to the brim. The battery was fine recording 12.4 V when the engine was off and 14.3 V when idling.

Smile Car-Keeping My Linea!

Today, I spent another 2 hours to clean the engine bay to get rid of the dead bugs and muck collected from different parts of India. I also tightened some loose nuts and bolts.

Car-keeping will continue tomorrow too.

Now that's a spanking clean Engine bay I must say. You have ensured to clean most of the corners which are otherwise less "human friendly" to approach.

Somehow, I have never preferred the folks at the ASC touch the engine bay of my car in the name of cleaning/washing.

Great to see you put effort in keeping the engine bay clean; something that most would overlook and pay attention to just the external body.

Thanks, paragsachania. I used discarded tooth-brushes, screw-driver covered with cloth, etc. to access all the nook and corner and inaccessible places.

For them, it is 50+ cars/day; for us, it is only one! I do similar exercise after the annual servicing also.

It feels so happy to see you taking such good care of the car.

I've always followed Cara Mia's adventures keenly(for years) even before getting my membership approved and find your love for your car to have grown over time. A big salute sir.

..
Do you use a torque wrench for tightening up the nuts/bolts? If yes, can you share the torque values?

No. I don't have torque wrench. I tightened the nuts and bolts using the regular tube/ring spanners.

As one grows older, more love and care are needed, isn't it? Cara Mia FIAT Linea is going to complete 4 years in a coupla weeks. Thanks, swami.n.

Hi Ravi Sir - A Linea and a TBTS: a very rare combo. have been following you for some time now.

Admire you for the way you maintain both and those TL's (mainly LEH) that you share are really inspiring. I wish to do this sooner.

Respect you for sharing patiently what you have done. This is valuable for us.

Hello Sir,

was shipping to India free or did someone get it for you, just a query.

Can you share the invoice details.

Regards.
Jimit

Sir,

is that an excel sheet which you are using to calculate the cost per km, would be kind enough to share a blank template for the same if you have it handy.

Regards,
Jimmy

Yes, Jimmy_u. The maintenance cost details are recorded in the Excel sheet only. You can also create those columns and rows in an Excel sheet. It can't be sent to you as no attachments are allowed in PM.

At last, the car-keeping got completed today with the final work of waxing and polishing and cleaning the glasses, but not before I noticed that my Linea lost the alphabet 'I' in her EMOTION. Then, I decided to get rid of the old emotion and spent more than half-hour in removing the remaining emotion and gum marks. I have ordered a new set of logos with 99rpm.com costing Name: rupeesymbol.gif
Views: 815
Size: 578 Bytes550 including shipping. My Linea will have new emotion shortly.
