Thanks, AutoIndian. My MMI Lx130 showed a distance of 1500+ km from Peanut, Nagpur to Hotel Sapphire, Amritsar. I took NH 26 before New Delhi and also NH 1 from New Delhi to Amritsar. NH 1 involves many continuous, but beautiful diversions through out the journey to Amritsar, hence I maintained a maximum of 90 kmph [max speed limit specified on NH 1 for cars]. The road condition was horrible from Nagpur to Gwalior making driving a torture. I am the sole driver [accompanied by my wife] in this expedition. As regards to driving time is concerned, Google Maps is very much on the lower side and MMI very conservative. Either you have to add a few hours to Google Maps or deduct some from MMI! More details later.

The roads in MP are not that good. If you have to see/experience the best roads in India, then you need to visit Gujarat & Rajasthan. My goodness, you are the lone driver. Don't you feel tired/exhausted after such a long drive. After I completed my longest drive, my head was going bonkers, & felt like banging it with a sledge hammer. (of course roads didn't help much)

Ravi Sir, you are on a great driving expedition, keep it going & enjoy & have a safe drive & comeback with great memories

with the kms you are munching in your linea your next car has to be a DIESEL FIAT

FIAT cars never tire you,be it UNO,PALIO,PUNTO or a LINEA.

Thanks AutoIndian. The roads were all in good condition despite rains. After entering the border of J&K at Lakkhanpur, NH 1A [44] is butter-smooth 4-lane all the way to Jammu BP. Then onward, it is a nice 2-lane road all the way to Srinagar. Of course, due to rains some bad stretches were there, but it is easily manageable. We had the company of rains from Udhampur all the way to Srinagar.

I have not yet started my travelogue. I shall write after accomplishing the mission! I will also give the link here in this trhead.

Sir, that must have been a real long drive considering you are the only driver.

Thanks, Vtecguy7166. Nagpur to Amritsar has been the longest drive I did [both time and distance-wise].

Here it is, AutoIndian.

Leh Expedition Update

We reached Leh safely at 2:30 pm today. Earlier, we had left Srinagar yesterday at 8:00 am and reached Sonamarg by 11:00 am. But, we were not allowed to proceed further as there were a lot of landslides en route especially near Zozilla Pass. Hence, we took a room at JKTDC rest house and had good siesta after lunch. We left Sonamarg at 8:30 pm after dinner and reached Kargil by 3:00 am today. But, since the petrol pump opens at 6 am only, we had a power nap at the car itself parked in the petrol pump. After tankful of petrol at Kargil, we left at 6 am today and reached Leh by 2:30 pm. The roads were very bad especially at Zozilla Pass. All along the route, we were stopped at many locations as BRO workers were clearing the debris and stones blocking the road. Hence, the delay in reaching Leh.

You guys must have nerves of steel. In the pitch darkness of midnight you dared to cross one of those areas that were bombarded by our enemy not so in the distant past & then sleep peacefully in that hounded area. Was this confidence due to Linea's "tijori" like build? Wasn't there any other bunk enroute further or were you running the risk of drying up the fuel tank?
