By the way, are you 100% sure that the 2008-09 stocks were cleared by Fiat? Do you know any Fiat bigwig who can get us the answer? I will anyways try to find from the dealership I booked rom. Many thanks

I am thinking I would be getting a 2010. If what the head of sales told me is to be true. In Bangalore, the price on their rate card is 4.65. They offer for 4.6lac. I got it reduced to 4.49lac on road. It includes a 2 yr additional warranty too

Hurray!

Inspired by me, 2 more collegues have booked the SDX today. They made decision in minutes. Both never were looking to buy a new car. One drives a petrol Palio and other a WagonR. Both were too excited to know the offer in place and rushed me along to the dealership. In 10 minutes, we booked and were out also.

The sales head as requested expidited some info from Fiat for me. The original colors as mentioned in brochure are not available. Its a 2010 manufactured units that would be delivered.

Excerpt of the email:
Dear sir,

Models Covered: -

Freshly produced select nos 2010 model.

Palio SLX BS III

Palio SDX BS III

Color Choice:-

Availability would be as under
• Exotica Red
• Bossa Nova White
• Medium Grey
• Infinity Black

Yes yes! I too hope for the same. I am being like a brand ambassador for FIATs at my office

Many trust my knowledge based on the collection of many Fiat cars. I am the go to person for any car needs at my office. A few more are very much interested. They are working out to see if they can manage the finances. If this offer stays for one more month, I am sure many more will add to the list just from my office.

I feel FIATful now

Funkycar,

What colours have you and your friends booked?

Stile in White looks great.
Though I own the 'Infinity Black' SDX, I feel White looks better than any other colour in Stile!
Did you have a chance to see the cars?

Myself and another collegue have booked the Excotica Red. Another collegue has booked the Infinity Black.

No chance of seeing the cars. No dealership has any. Its more like against order. Like a custom made

We still hope we get the cars!

If you or your friends get a chance, have a look at White.

^^ Oh yes! One of our collegues already has a white Stile SDX(Bossa Nova). Its awesome. The white, black and red are so appealing that we had a difficult time choosing the color during booking. I and another colleague liked all 3 colors to the fullest.

I am generally a guy who prefers black always. I choose red as it looked very vibrant. Another collegue likes red and believes it gets him good luck and choose it. The 3rd collegue did not even want to see colors, he choose black. He likes only black.

Dont know what happened to the 3-5 people who are in pipeline to book the Palio.

Prospective Palio buyers: There could be a variation in on-road price. You might want to check my post on this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post1998649 (Palio Multijet SDX for 4.2 Lakhs !!!!) and follow this thread as well

I have been guilty of getting the scheduled 30K service delayed till the odo went past 32,245 KMs. That figure actually should be about 33,500 KMs as the odo didn't work during my Agartala trip in April 2010. On the other hand, having had an extra oil/filters change at about 16,500 KMs, I had done my 22,500 KM servicing after the odo had gone past 23,500 KMs. That means, I had over shot the service interval by about 2,500 KMs.

Since the arrival of our little one I had been very negligent about the maintenance of my car and I could feel some sluggishness in performance and also a marginal drop in FE during the last thousand kilometres. Thankfully, my Palio seems to have taken this impropriety in her stride. This evening, as I drove back from the TASS after the servicing, she was back to her old self.

I was preoccupied with a lot of work and I didn't have the option to monitor the servicing. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the diesel filtering element was available in stock. But drama never ceases with a Fiat Palio. Having made the payments I just double checked the invoice. Two things made me go .
1. The price of the diesel filter (after 5% discount) = Rs. 1666.67
2. Oil 20W40HP Petrol Engine Oil 3.3 lt = Rs. 633.83

No. 2 got me shell-shocked but then the mechanic who handled my car swore that he had put 15W40 oil and it must have been a billing error. I have no option but to believe him.

No. 1 was surprising because architect was getting that part for Rs. 930 plus taxes. I saw Rs. 11xx printed on the box and would not have been that disappointed to pay that much. However, Rs. 1667 for a filtering element seems to be daylight robbery. The TASS people told me that they didn't charge prices as printed on the label but as shown in the current price list supplied by Fiat. It seems Fiat is adopting a dual pricing mechanism: same part (0077362340) for Punto at Rs. 9xx and for Palio at Rs. 16xx!!

Finally, thanks to the billing error (heaven forbid correct billing for the engine oil!), I must have been undercharged by about Rs. 250.

Here's the break-up:
Parts: Engine oil = Rs. 633.83, Oil Filter = Rs. 425.71, Air Filter = Rs. 270.48,
Fuel Filter = Rs. 1666.67. Parts Total = 3040.38 (incl. service tax)
Labour: Engine oil change = Rs.135, Air filter change = Rs. 54, Fuel filter change = Rs. 81, Standard checks = Rs. 160. Labour total = Rs. 426.86.

Grand Total: Rs. 3467.00

Well, I just posted on my thread one week ago that Fuel Filter has become Rs 1700/- odd. That said, I would advice that you do not delay services. 7500 km is anyways a too-long service interval. Once my EW gets over, I will switch to service at 5000 km or switch to synthetic oil (which I shall be buying from Kashmiri Gate).

The question is very stupid perhaps but let me ask anyway:

7500 is the recommended service interval means even if one stretches the engine to the limits one can safely drive that many KMs after one scheduled service. Suppose our average Joe never drives above 90 K/hr, nor does he encounter B2B traffic daily. In that case can Mr Joe expect the engine oil to work a for a thousand KMs more?

It is not a stupid question, and one I have been contemplating myself. On mineral oil, a 5000 km service is good enough and is followed by many Fiat users.
