@J.Ravi, Thanks for your suggestion.

I was also wondering what would've happened if the fuse of some other important electrical equipment had blown.
Ofcourse the fuses are the same for any car, but still its good to have a spare in hand
I'll go this weekend and will buy spare fuses of every amperage.

I also liked the old one but since it was a kind of rubber material, it got cut :(

Its now acting as a banner for one small section of my scaled model collection.

Yes it is the shell collection...two cars and two wheelers got together and collected these 6 different types and 10 cars in total.

One month and no updateson my thread... very bad

On 31st december, as a new year gift, I gave my Italian beauty a new set of 3D mats
FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20111231_141402.jpg

Can't disclose the prices as I bought this without my wife's permission

I got it from Hot tracks, Victoria layout (Richmond road), Bangalore.
There were two versions...one with welcrow type of fabric on the underside and one without.
The price difference between the 2 variants being Rs500/-. The welcrow type(which I bought) gives it better grip

Will post more photos soon...

Hey Hemanth!
Nice to see the gift for your PUNTO! Looks great.

Whats the current fuel efficiency of your 1.2?

Btw, I happened to see your car parked in interior Hebbal area last Saturday at 4pm.

ruthvikmagal,

Thanks, My 1.2 is giving an average 12kmpl in city with mixed driving conditions.

My car has not left south Bangalore since November. you have spotted some other Abarth which is in Bangalore

BHPian libranof1987 had once spotted such a car in Marthahalli and called me asking if that was me when I was relaxing at home
BHPians pumpy_raj and IRONH4WK have also spotted the other such car and sent me photos of the same

I would have liked my car to be the one and only Abarth in Bangalore, but these stripes are not copyrighted in my name you see

Anyways feels good that my car is famous!!!

Yesterday, my car completed 16months. What better gift can I give Abarth than a long drive?

“I have to attend one of my friends’ wedding”…This was just an excuse needed for me to take out my IB onto the highway.
I was so keen to just drive out my car that I forgot my camera.

In any trip involving me and my friends, the unwritten rule is that I’m the photographer.
So this post will have pictures taken from my mobile phone’s camera.

The wedding was in a place called Chornur in Bellary District.
I searched Google maps and it gave me 4 to 5 options.
I selected a road which had the shortest distance of road unknown to me…which was 25kms off Hiriyur-Bellary road

I left my home at 4:35am with half a tank full of petrol and the ODO reading 20853kms.
Then picked up a friend of mine and we joined NH4 near Yeswanthpur railway station exactly at 5:15am.
After around 1 and half hours of driving at a speed between 100-120kmph, I reached another landmark

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_065423.jpg
One more of the milestones passed by…

Exactly 2 hours of driving and we were in Hiriyur when my hunger woke up just when the National Highway finished. Time for a break…
We stopped at a small eat out where fresh and hot Pooris and Mirchis were being prepared.

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_071839.jpg
Hot 'n' Spicy

We took half an hour filling our stomachs and then started with the second leg of journey on State highway road.

After some minutes I saw the harvested farms with no crops and plain red soil on both sides.
I don’t know what’s with my bosso nova white car and the colour red, but they do attract each other.
I did put the resource (mobile phone camera) I had to the best possible use…

Always game for a photo

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_082335.jpg
Look in my eyes...

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_082423.jpg
Ready to fly with the wings open

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_082523.jpg
That's how I entered the field

In the next 90 minutes my car took us 110 kms from Hiriyur never bothering about the thousands of small humps put on this road.
If not for Punto, I don’t think I would’ve been so confident over humps.

This is where we had to deviate from the State highway and enter the village road…I kept my fingers crossed.
I was lucky. The first 15kms was a mixture of good roads and freshly laid roads but both were not flat…in fact it was a roller coaster like ride

After 15kms, the freshly laid road went in a different direction to where I had to go.
5 minutes from there and then the black tar gave way to no road.
The road was just a path laid with Indian version of cobble stones-approximately 12 inch x 6 inch stones.
This was truly an off-roading experience….this last 25 kms took 1 hour and the last 10 kms took 30 minutes

Bad roads don't mean you can't get good photos

We spent some quality time with old friends and after wishing luck to the newlywed couple, we left the place at 2:45pm with 5 people on board.
We joined the Hiriyur-Bellary road at 3:30pm

In the afternoon sun, when all the remaining 4 dozed off, I kept driving at a constant speed of 100+ kmph
It was 5:05pm just some music, my Abarth and I…If I try to explain this feeling, only McDonald’s comes to my mind...”I’M LOVIN IT”

I reached joined NH4 where we stopped for some refreshments.
By 5:30 started the NH drive and since it was the end of a long weekend, traffic was more as expected.

We spent this drive by discussing how so few people die in our country in spite of driving so bad.
Be it overtaking from left or not wearing seat belts, be it sounding horn unnecessarily of driving dangerously, you name it you have it.

I kept a constant speed of around 100kmph which brought me to Bangalore by 8:30 (easily 1 hour wasted in toll gates)
By the time I dropped my friends and reached home it was 9:00pm.

Average speed.

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20120129_210204.jpg
Total driving time.

So, another 620kms added to my car’s ODO which now reads 21473.
It may look like huge numbers, but I just have only one word for this…BLISS!

Was trying out some formatting options in Excel and Instead of working on dummy data, this is what I made...

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-graph.jpg

Fastest 1000kms for my car was 4 days and the slowest being 70 days
The average per day was 62 kms a day somewhere in May2011 but then my usage dropped and it presently stands at 44 kms a day

Just for a better idea, I took fellow BHPian MCR's diesel punto reading for comparision.

Name: MCR.JPG
Views: 984
Size: 12.2 KB

No wonder people tell me that I should have bought a diesel!

PS: I have taken 10 february 2012 because the plan for a drive on that day is confirmed where I will cover atleast 700kms with my current ODO reading being 21500kms.

Yes Vik0728, I realised that this is some driving, when I compiled this.
Never did I realize this when I drove the car.
Its really like what the FIAT ad says..MAGIC

I'm not the kind of guy who would stop himself from a driving this beauty citing petrol cost as a reason.

As of now, my 'Bangalore TBHP mega meet' plan is unconfirmed. If I finally do come, It'll be the 6th time that I'd be notching up a 1000kms in 10 days or less
