Default Fräulein goes on a date...

My Fräulein had a mid-afternoon date with the Fleet Admiral yesterday. Nobody says it better than @Guderian so please hop over to his ownership thread for a most entertaining narrative of the afternoon's events! The incident of the loony shotgun lady is the highlight.

For my part, let the pictures do the talking. Oh well, can't resist the occasional caption .

Default The Fraulein & Admiral !

Hey Noops,
Great meeting that.

And the views from your lens are rather delectable. Sure will put up the snaps of the Admiral from your lens on the Admiral's thread. That should add great sparkle to that place !

Ahh the lady & the shotgun !
Well all of this goes into making of a memorable escapade.

Default re: My Fräulein arrives: Vento AT *Updated* 9000 km update"

Here's a video of my baby attempting some lightweight offroading inspired by the Admiral's reassuring presence. Thanks @Guderian for sharing this.

edit: @dsr_rpm: Vento is giving me no GC issues at all. I am using Hyundai Accent and Honda City as the reference of comparison. In fact we were suprised how effortlessly it kept up with the T-Fort on rocky terrain. However you are correct in saying that the fuel pump (and fuel tank in general) is vulnerable and would stop short of qualifying the VEnto as an "off-roader". Occasional bumpy roads are not a problem, though!

hi, would like to know if you have any GC issues with the vento in unpaved roads. I have booked a Vento and expecting the delivery some time next month. The last stretch to my house in native is unpaved and rocky, so would like to know if it will be an issue. heard that the fuel pump is the lower most point and will take the hit mostly. If you could clarify on this it will be realy help full since you have done bit off roading.

Love the pics, visited admiral's thread and enjoyed the pics from @guderian's side. and now we get to see your side of the pics. All this translates into a double treat.
Glad that the ol lady wasn't in either of your nightmares.
I don't think the civic could tackle this terrain.

No issues with Vento's GC. Have to admit that the front bumper lip is protruding out which may scratch in an inclined surface. Havent had any bottom scratches so far. The OEM mud flaps will get some bruising thanks to it's huge size. Other than that, it can easily find it's way through rough roads.

@Noopter, amazed at your meticulousness in photoshoping the number plate in every picture.

Nice tool er er. Nevermind, nice DIY enabling kit.

Was that a bike in the background of the video? Check 13th sec to 17th sec frames.

@mdsaab, lets not give up on our cars. I believe they can.

May have missed the update in between, but I see that you have replaced your logos Noopster. Now you can go back to being jittery about parking in the open spaces!
Also( a stupid question here..), can you tell me what amount of "creep" is there for the AT ? When you are in "D" on an incline going upwards and take your foot off the brakes, does it hold the ground or slide forward ?

@Noops: do you have sunfilms in your car ? If yes, which ones ?

I am thinking of getting the 3M ones with 70% visibility, dont want the sunfilms to hamper my night driving

Thanks mash. I don't think it can either. In fact I was a little jittery and actually very suprised when the VW handled the rocky road as well as it did. Let's hear it for der Germans, ja?

That is my "spare" set kindly donated by a fellow BHPian- same gent who so kindly enabled the factory visit. I slotted the front logo in for pics and quietly removed them later. The rear one doesn't slot in- needs to be glued on- which is why I didn't and you will notice a marked absence of rear views in my pics!

It's not a stupid question. There is significant torque push (don't know the technical term but sounds better than "creep"!) in the AT. On a flat surface it inches forward quite forcefully without acceleration. On inclines, I have great fun releasing the brake and checking if it "holds". So far it has stayed stable- neither moved front nor back- but these are gentle slopes we're talking of. I suspect on steep slopes you have to keep your foot planted to keep it stationary, like you would an MT.

I took the OEM accessories for the side/back- LUMAR branded fitted by the dealer (pretty well) but he charged me a bomb (6900/-) Front film is a brand called "Global" (70% visibility) which my FNAG (friendly neighbourhood accessories guy) fitted and charged me 3500/- for. Am happy with both.

Klap Klap for the German's YA!
Actually scrolled all the way down again to find the logo pics.
So i saw the front logo but didn't see any pics with the rear.
Then i played the youtube video and then noticed there isn't a logo at the rear.
How i missed this i don't know. Yeah ofcourse i was checking sexy Fraulein out from head to toe.
So you still think it better to go without the logo eh?

@madsaab- Absolutely. I see no point in giving those creeps a chance to mess with my baby with their small screwdrivers and even smaller minds. While I agree it affects the aethetics no end, am just going to have to bite the bullet and wait this mania out.

I too have gotten used to checking out Fraulein without her badges. I think she looks cool in the debadged look.

Right, "torque push" certainly sounds much better than "creep" , which I used because the car(s) which I had driven sort of crept ahead when slotted in D. And due to the nature of that gear, the torque push is always the hardest I guess when in "R".

Need some advice here: At the time of delivery, I felt mud flaps wouldnt look nice on Vento & also thought they are not required in summer. Hence didnt buy them from dealer. Now that rain gods have started showing their blessings in Bangalore, I am in a dilemma if I should go for it or not! Dealer was suggesting to go for it as water & mud may get car interior parts. Your opinion...

I am going with 3M hopefully by this weekend; but still thinking about the visibility. Check this link & this one too.
BTW, am also planning for the front windshield film from 3M. What do you guys think? Will it be useful?
