Congrats! Looking fabulous, man! That blue exterior and beige interior complement each other perfectly

Can we expect an ownership thread?

Cheers!

Thanks 999. Yes we had initial apprehensions in choosing the color and we wanted something exclusive since white and brown would be a common choice by buyer's we thought we'd take blue. This color really isn't that bad when you see it in person.

Exclamation Buying Dilemma!!! (25-30lacs)

Hey guys, need some help here with choosing a new motor.

It's been a trouble free four years with the Honda CR-V, but it's time to say bye

I'm on the lookout for a new/used car( between 25-30lacs ), hopefully with the Honda's spaciousness and rev happy motor. I have considered the 3 (not the puny 320i) and the A4. What used cars are available in this bracket? I'm not concerned with fuel or body type.
Your advice will be much appreciated! Thank you

Why buy a used car? You can get a brand new X1, Fortuner, Koleos, Santa Fe or soon to be launched Audi Q3. Q3 & X1 would be small for your needs though. If you are open to sedans, you can have a look at Superb & Passat as well.

I would pick the Santa Fe.

If 30 lakhs lacs budget is on road, then a new A4 & 3 series would be out of your budget.

My friend. From what little you have said, there are 2 cars that you can get in your budget.

1) New Superb 3.6 V6.
2) Used E60 530i.

Are you open to diesels?

It purely depends on what your heart desires, Sir.

Do you fancy a big SUV, or do you like sedans?

In my opinion, Akshay1234 has given you the best options. The E60 530i is a gem, and so is the Skoda Superb V6.

You could also consider the Passat. Understated elegance is what the Passat is all about. And it's loaded to the brim with equipment and features that will blow you away.

Thank you for your advice guys !
I wanted to upgrade the Honda and not buy something in the same class.

Another 5 is out of the question because I already have an f10 525d. ( diesel is not an issue)

What is your opinion in the M class? I've found a month old ML350 CDI which has covered only 300km. The dealer's asking for 42lacs ( I know it's stretching it, but if it's worth the premium, I'll take it)

If FE is not a concern test drive the Skoda Superb 3.6 TSI 4X4. This car has more space than your CR-V and with the 3.6 FSI engine you won't miss the i-VTEC from your CRV. It comes with the comparatively reliable 6 speed DSG(7 spd dry type DSG in 1.8 TSI is trouble prone in our country).

Passat with 170hp Diesel is also a equally good and more sensible option. The 170hp CR TDI engine is punchy and still delivers unreal FE. Space not as good as Superb but not bad at all, better than 3/C/A4.

Accord V6 is also available in price range. I feel the comfort oriented dynamics are not a good match to the V6 engine. Drive it back to back with Superb 3.6 V6 FSI and suddenly Accord will feel like a very ordinary car.

Amongst the soft roaders Hyundai Santa Fe is overpriced but good option. The CRDi engine is punchy and dynamics are decent. I guess it is more spacious than the CRV.

Fuel & body type are not a concern right ? Great. Look around for a used e60 530d then. IMO a 2008/09 model should ideally come within 30 lakh easily (correct me if wrong). Ofcourse it all depends on how much it has clocked on the odo, maintenance & service history etc. Finding THE perfect e60 could be a pain as you might have to look for one that has not run around much, has a well defined service history + has a well looked after exterior/interior combo. After all this if its under 30 lakhs, trust me there is absolutely no need to look further.
Good looks (through my eyes of course), features like HUD/ night-vision, fantastic 18 inch alloys are a few things it has but mainly it has only 1 thing going for it - 500nm , 500nm & 500 Ballistic NM ! Couple that with RWD and you have a winner. Stonker of an engine, amazing handling , endless surge of newton meters will ensure you have a permanent silly grin on your face.

42 lakhs for a sparingly used and almost new ML350 CDI is not a bad deal at all. You could consider it. However, haggle a little more and get it down into the late 30s. The ML would be a big upgrade from the garden-variety CR-V. Look for used Range Rovers too. Some well-maintained ones can go for under 50 lakhs. The RR Sport is a nice option, but LR's after-sales-service is questionable.

Thanks for the advice!
I didn't find any used RR's though, but once the financial side is handled I'll probably go in for the M (provided it's not sold!).

Used range rovers are out of question in calcutta, there are hardly 4-5 anyway.

Thats a brilliant deal you got there on the M,but considering that the new one is just weeks away from launch, your car will became a generation old already.Still the current M looks the part, and is not a bad buy.

Will you be driving this car exclusively or will it be a family car?
Mostly self driven or chaffuer driven?

If it is going to be used by you mostly,no point getting a large vehicle, you could get yourself a passat or even go a bit crazy and get the Laura Vrs.

Or else Audi Q3 will be a nice upgrade to your CRV.

If i were in your place i would take the ML. They look good and perform very well. The right price would be 35 to 40 lakhs as the new ones are around 55 lakhs. I have the 320cdi and she has clocked about 90,000kms and still behaves and looks like she has come out of the showroom, the Range Rover on the other hand would have given you bills worth an Altis.
