| My friend (his dad actually) needs a luxury car in a budget of 25-50L. Strictly no benz. His dad was pretty inclined to the superb but it didnt have that prestige factor in it (great car though). The car will do about 4-5K kms a month.FE is not a major factor. The priorities are in this order
Is it worth waiting for the new camry?? When is the BMW 3 series launching in India ??? Hope you guys can help. THANKS IN ADVANCE ----------------------------END OF LONG POST------------------------ |

| If the benz is out of the picture then the Audi comes into the fray. It may be a little over the budget but may be worth spending the extra buck. It would be advisable to have a dealer close to your friends place while deciding to buy the car. |

Also in the segment you have the new Camry which was launched recently. This is a great car which is completely imported. Lets just jot down the probables excluding the Merc: 1. BMW 3, 5 2. Audi A4, A6 3. Toyota Camry 4. Superb 5. Hyundai Taracan 6. Mitsubishi Pajero 7. Nissan X-Trail 8. Suzuki Grand Vitara 9. Toyota Prado 10. Porsche 11. WV (New Launch...dont remember the name) It would help to define needs further. Last edited by nishant_kingpin : 12th March 2006 at 20:20. | |

| The Audi A6 is at 43.5 lacs ex-showroom.. So with with tax and insurance shud be around 50L .. Its one awesome car.. Not really sure what wud a Beemer cost but then if *** is a issue then well what option do u really have other than Indian cars which would mean a Skoda Superb or wait for the new Camry... But dont think they wud have enuf prestige factor.. Personally I am not really happy with the rear seating of a Skoda.. It is not luxurious enuf. Its too upright and there isnt enuf of thigh support.. Cant say about camry rite now as its yet to be launched.. Cheers

I used to think the same. I thought Beemers were miles ahead of merc's but I saw this myself at the recent toronto autoshow. Merc's are much better. Audi is even better than mercedes and my preference. FWD maybe a hinderance. look at volvo s60/s80 if possible. Not as prestigious as mercedes but interiors are better than BMW and equivalent to mercedes.

| WV has come out with a new car that is in the 40L to 80L range will try to get the name for you. Saw a small preview on one of the Auto shows on TV. It would help to know the following: 1. If the car will be self driven or not. 2. Is SUV suitable for the role or you concentrating only on cars. 3. Will he like a sport coupe etc. 4. You have mentioned the village roads thus the sports coupe is out for sure. 5. Preference of fuel...if any. 6. Only first hand cars preferred or second hand can be considered With the big budget, the world opens up and it is always good to concentrate on a particular segment, test drive the cars, check out the positives and negatives and make the descision. |

| Your budget mentioned is really big 25-50 lakhs. But since u mentioned he was inclinded to the superb he should probably check out the new Camry, its packed with alot of features and cheaper too. Tho nothing beats the Superb when it comes to backseat comfort/space. If snob value is what he is looking for then he is restricted to the Audi A6and BMW 525/530(my best pick) Quote:
I am not sure how good the car is coz they sent one to my dad for a test drive and the AC failed before he could even step on the gas.

NO SUV or SPORT COUPE Preferably diesel. Only first hand cars Even to test drive a car I am sure we have to go to delhi or mumbai. The car has to be registered in hyderabad. The biggest problem after buying these cars is to service them in hyderabad. VW is not a luxury brand. The luxury brand for VW is AUDI. Audi is better than mercedes in most of the comparisions an equal in the rest.

| I saw the CAR & BIKE show yesterday and they said that new CAMRY is going to be out very soon and priced around 21 for the top model. So I think CAMRY is a good and a safe bet considering TOYOTA's reliability and service in India. If u take my opinion go 4 CAMRY. |
