I do agree that a Machine can break down, but just the next day it is bought? That is a bit too much for a 50 lakh rupee car.

Anyways the BMW dealer at Chandigarh was called(there was no dealer in Ludhiana back then), so they sent a service personnel all the way to Ludhiana( about 100 Kms from Chandigarh). He did fix it.

This does Tell you that BMW has good A.S.S. but its all the more better if you do not need to use it!

Only two things about the Volvo is that no spare wheel and no run flats. Also the headroom is limited. However, it is a good lateral choice comparred to the standard Merc, BMW, Audi conumdrum!

And dealer support hasn't been proven yet... Judging by how long it took me to get a test drive for the S60 (I still haven't got it), I think they may need some more time to come up to the MB level... I think they dont have critical mass yet. I wanted to get S60. Got E instead - didn't even get to see the s60.

There is no full fledged dealer and workshop in Bangalore yet. Looks like it will take some time coming. Spoke to the Hyderabad dealer who said that there are a few test drive cars in Bangalore. In my view, not worth taking the chance with limited support. The conundrum continues. In the meantime, having fun test driving the cars.

I'm not going to add to the confusion with a volvo
Going to check out the F30 this saturday & by Monday I would book either F30( If it is roomy enough), F10 or A6 (tough fight between these two). Still no idea which one though.

Pick the best of both worlds and go with a Audi A6. It gives you comfort that a merc would give you and it gives you the edge and sportiness a bmw would give you..

I guess the heart is dead set on a bimmer after all so nothing else feels right


Going to book the 520D tomorrow. Is there anything that should be kept in mind ? Will be checking out the vehicle I will be allotted as well. Help Guys !

You can't retrofit what your heart wants with any amount of logic in the world, try as you may.

It's a long time since I logged into team-BHP. My dad was trying to decide between the BMW 525d and the Audi A6 2.0TDI. So I logged in intending on posting the question, and lo-behold, the same already has 4 pages of discussions! This is excellent.

From my limited knowledge of the cars, I believe the Audi is a better option. But now I will go through the whole discussion to get a better understanding. Thank you all.

UPDATE: Booked the car(white 520d with cinnamon brown interiors) on saturday and will hopefully be getting it on friday (3rd august)
It's gonna be fun.
Any comments on the color choice ? It still can be changed. Exterior color has to be a lighter shade only though.

and Great color choice i would say...Nothing beats a Big Expensive Car in Pure White.
also not very difficult to maintain

thanks man & yes apart from the fact that whole of my family wanted only white , maintenance was a major plus

Congratulations. My favourite shade for the 5 is Havanna, but since you mentioned only light colours, do check options like Space Grey or Titanium Silver - easier to maintain that the Alpine White

UPDATE : Got the white 520D today Cinnamon brown interiors look insane.
