used imported ride. help plz on a budget. - Team-BHP

hey guys.. on a budget but plan to have a good car @ the end of it..
my total budget is 3 lakhs.

am lookin for a car.. a convertible or a 2 door sports... 2nd hand.

within a budget range of 1.80
coz the rest i plan to paint n do all the engine work.. coz i wanna do it up according to me... and hoping 2 end witha good ride.. which runs like a new one...

if i find a ride which is done up n in good condition i may pay more...

any suggestions and dealer numbers?

dont say choksi.. coz when he mentioned 6 lakhs for a miata.. i laughed n left the bunglow

1.80 are you sure your talking about a whole car..or is it 1.80 for the part till the a-pillars...and then 1.80 til the front seats...and so on...

well thats a choker of a budget you got their bro..well you could get a miata but around 1990 or so....which i doubt would be in good condition...

yeah miata is lookin like the only option... if anyone can surprise me lemme know.. i dont mind the bad condition... whats the scene for parts? after market seems like the only option.

saw a BMW in delhi..1994 with 56k km..was asking 4.5 lacs. close to $10k..that is lot of mony for used car but then it is India and not US

is it 1.8 lacs or the decimal is unintentional. cause in my mind u wont get even the cheapest imported, 2 door car for less than 4 lacs (i guess thats the price of a toyota SERA

no rahul thats far from what i have in mind.. and i dont see anything wierd about this post... if u look around trust me u can find a old car within this budget.. and sera's go for under 3 my friend... ne ways thanx for all your help...but im thinkin ill haveto up my budget a bit to get a decent ride...called up a few dealers theyll let me know once they have anything... thanx guys...

u can get D series merc 190D etc 85 to 90 models in that budget but redoing the whole car to ur taste will be more than twice the budget u have kept as spare. and still it wont be reliable.

You would get a car thats atleast 15 yrs old if not more. Spares and/or support would also likely be a problem.

Aside:
Maruti should by San and spruce up the Storm, put in the 1.1 litre engine and market it for 4L. There would be a ton of buyers - me included!

Guys, Manik's (Driven) friend just bought a very old Toyota Corrolla for 50K. The car needs a lot of work on the interiors but the body shell was pretty ok for 50K. And the engine was running like hell...

zoheb i think you could PM "DRIVEN" for further info.
