Default What for Rs 15 lakhs ?

no no no no, this is not for me

This is for a close friend of mine, he has some dosh to spend and was thinking of a Laura, I suggested he looks at the Laura Elegance but he decided against it as it iwas not an auto.

He felt that "you only live once" and wanted in his words, "something funky, like a Beamer or a sporty car but wants an auto"

I have advised him not to be too hasty and warned him that fancy german cars can be trouble if they go wrong and to look at good used jap sports cars. He likes cars but ain't a car guy

I know he likes the Civic - one suggestion is to buy a Civic and pimp it up. Before I suggest that, what are the options in terms of imported cars, anyone has an insight?

BTW, he already has a Scorpio so practicality is not an issue

The cheapest Beemer is twice his budget. His expectations are vague.

I cant see anything beyond the V6 Accord at the moment. Why not look at used Supras if wants an auto. i think there are some around.

If he wants an Auto, then there is Bajaj. LOL

On a serious note, I think the Civic is the best bet with all my heart. I have read too many things about Skoda to be willing to put down that kind of dough.

How about the new CRV - a bit above his budget, but reported to be a true drivers 'car'.

I would also recommend the V6 Accord rather than any used-German machine, maintenance in them can be quite frightful at times.

Actually almost impossible in India.

The Accord is not 15 lakhs. the Accord VTi Automatic is around 15.7 lakhs ex-showroom. Add almost another 2 lakhs for insurance and road tax (its 14% in Karnataka from april)

The V6 is almost like 17.4 lakhs ex-showroom. So that's close to 20 lakhs for the V6.

The best bet is the Civic Automatic or any second hand Supra's. I'll be a little bit biased and plonk for the Civic AT. Its too good. Mileage being the only issue.
