True CD, it robs the accord of atleast 1 second to 100 in the V6 easily. The logic of Honda has probably been that the drivers in our country wouldnt be able to handle this sort of power and therefore concentrate on driving as well as change gears. SO they want us to just concentrate on the driving. The logic is flawed and doesnt hold true for all drivers, but it seems Honda thinks it knows whats best for us.

No ways Revv. Even in the United States, the Accord V6 sedan is NOT sold with a manual transmission. It is available in automatic only.

There is a slick 6 speed option in the Coupe though.

Though i haven't driven the V6 yet, the 4 M/T it'self was an amazing xperience. This car has some serious straightline capabilities. Blip the throttle and it shoots like no other.

I was impressed with it's handling at 160-165 kmph wher i had to move from one side of the ring rd to another overtaking 4 trucks en route.

At 180, it felt as calm as the City Vtec would have felt at 100-120kmph. The brake feel was excellent.

Can't imagine how the V6 might be like to drive, we know it's quicker than the S 350 to the 150kmph mark.

All i can say is that it's got, S class power, with E class quality and a less than C class price tag.

Buying a D segmenter has never been this good.

Regards...

as someone said in another topic....the Accord V6 has 221 bhp but shouldn't it perform a little better?

A quick comparison to the Toyota Camry -
Toyota Camry Honda Accord V6

Power 143.8bhp 221bhp

Weight 1425-1500kg 1530kg

Power
to weight 100.91bhp/ton 144.4bhp/ton

Gearbox 4 speed Auto 5 speed Auto

0-60 4.75 sec 4.72 sec

0-100 10.95 sec 9.46 sec

Top Speed 186kmph 212kmph
Comparing the two cars specially the power and weight, I guess the Honda Accord V6 should've at least have better acceleration. In top speeds, it no doubt beats the Camry by a large margin.

Gordy, where'd you get those figures from? When OD tested the Camry M/T it hit 100 in 10.33 secs. You mean to say the diff in performance between the M/T and A/T is less than a sec? I don't believe that. It's technically not possible.

it really isnt a fair comparision ,accords a V6 rest r straight fours

vectra GTS isnt ne short of competition
its a 3.2 Ecotec V6 ...5 spd manual
211.0 bhp at 6200 rpm
300.0 Nm at 4000
top speed - 248 ks
and 0 -100 in 7.5

Vectra comes in a diesel variant aswell ... Vectra CDTi (turbo D)
3.0 ecotec V6 (66 deg)
370nm @ 1900 ( !!!!!!!!!!!!! )
174@4000 rpm
top spd - 222 ks
and 0 - 100 in 9.5

now for the camry v6 5 spd auto
3.3L V6
225bhp @ 5800
240nm @ 3600rpm
0 - 60 in 7.8
tops 220 ks

now we gotta fair competition ...n i dont think the accord is detuned its an ivtec ...i'd go wid the Vectra neday ..i love opels ..ne1 seen the new astra ?

hey turbolover ...
thats the fault of gm and toyota ...
GTO i agree toyota overprices their cars but when it was launched it was still cheaper and bigger then the octy and that was the reason for my choice...
the only toyota cars to buy are the qualis and the corolla ...
hey cheaing death do u have an 2.4 or the V6 ....
shan2nu i find aci more reliable then OD specially for its times ...

like i said earlier in some other post.. the V6 wih a manual tranny would rule ....
easily the fastest indian car

Oh yeah it is. The Accord here produces 221bhp compared to the 240 in other countries and 27 kgm compared to 29 kgm in other places.

Makes no sense comparing the Indian Accord with the competition outside.

Lets see if the cars u mentioned can live upto the Accord V6 Coupe.

Standard Engine - 3.0L V6
Standard Transmission - 6 Speed Manual
Horsepower - 240bhp@6250
Torque - 212 lbft/29.2 kgm@5000
0-60mph - 6.2 secs

Ok so you agree that the Corolla with 125bhp is as fast as the Skoda RS with 150bhp, to 100kmph? Or that the City 1.5 can hit 185kmph, where as the Vtec manages just 184kmph, or that the Sonata V6 takes 7 secs to go from 170-180, but the bigger more powerful accord V6 takes 12 secs to do the same, inspit of having 1 extra gear?

C'mon!!! ACI might have good write ups and pretty pictures, but when it comes to testing performance OD has the edge. Heck, ACI don't even test 1/4 mile and standing km runs.
