Alright, bad news. When you're giving your Plasti-Dipped car for wash, even if it's 3M, you need to tell them to be careful. I didn't and paid the price:

This was obviously scratched else wouldn't have come off by normal cleaning, because I checked the plastic protector on the rear bumper and it was just fine.

Oh well, half a day's effort gone down the drain.

I'm loving the way she looks now. By the time I got done, it was dark, so will post proper pics with my experience tomorrow. All in all, money well spent! I just hope it holds up with our wonderful roads.
I dont think it will chip out easily unless you drive on a lot of gravel terrain. The biggest issue would be the brake dust. On matt black it tends to become 'brownish' once the brake dust falls on it.

Really hurts to see it huh? You would need to re-do the mirror, if you try to spray on top the peeled portion will lump out more. Tried that once and it was a failure. Mind you, there is a video on youtube showing how to tackle chips and small peeled out portions.

Here are a few before, after and WIP pics of my experience with plasti dip. I applied 8 coats of dip for my front and rear badges as well as all four rims. 2 cans were just about enough for this. Would have liked a couple of more applications for the rims. Check out my ownership report for more details.

While the DIY in the previous posts were superb and exciting, this post of yours now puts a question in my head.

Leave apart from pressure wash, wouldn't they (plasti-dipped ORVMs) get severly torn away with the nudges from biker's handle bars ? Or is the coat very thick so as to handle the nudges ?

That's one thing I forgot to mention. Two days after I Plasti-Dipped the ORVM, while I was waiting at the Ejipura signal, a biker, like always trying to get ahead of everyone, hit the ORVM with his bike handle so much so that it went slightly forward; I had to pull it back. I was furious, but when I got to office and checked for damages, there were none. Not even a scratch!

Ta da! I'm guessing the 5 coats I had applied absorbed the impact and since its a rubberized coating, got back to its shape after the initial impact.

Should depend on the quantities they bring I guess. I cant imagine customs having a problem in bringing in Plasti-Dip into India as long as it is in check-in baggage.

There is a garage in Bangalore that is providing Plast-Dip services. You can PM if need be.

Macha, tried this peanut butter this 2 weeks ago. Three words "DONT DO IT!" Its sticky and dust and other stuff stick and makes cleaning afterwards a big pain. I am not doing it again - peanut butter better stay on the bread

Nice work 197 horses. Have you also done the roof? Might want to consider doing the front logo as well!! From the angle you took the picture, the car looks a bit like the Renault Scala.

No i have not dipped my cars roof, its a vinyl wrap.
Yes it does look similar to Scala.

When you spray around the radiator, doesn't the plasti dip clog the radiator fins, resulting in lower air flow and subsequent overheating? Any difference noticed on a long fast drive or in bumper to bumper traffic?

Its not like that, i had covered the radiator from inside. I had stuffed paper beneath the grill so that radiator is not affected.Have a close look at this picture.

Something to ponder?! Maybe dipping your rims as well? Patches of black and white could really enhance the looks further. Maybe you could do a sample on MS paint before actually doing them.
