you got it all wrong here

even a 8000K HID though irritating is better than halogens

@akshay4587 : In the rain HID is not as effective as good halogens.

In fog forget about it... unless you have 3000k HID. So Immortalz is right.

There is no hard and fast rule.

A 6000k from a reputed manufacturer could provide better throw and illumination than a 4300k from an unknown.

But for spec for spec the 4300k would perform a little better in certain conditions.

Where are you getting it from ? You can ask the dealer to give you a demo of the same at night and then decide.

Do you do a lot of highway driving?

One thing 4300k will not turn any heads.. its almost yellow and people wont be able to tell much of a difference(including cops )

Thanks Anirudh, I got this quote for 4300k from the team bhp marketplace. I asked for a demo but he says he can't arrange for that. Which HID do you have in your car, maybe I can have a look at that.

Well, if you put them in a projector and do a color mod on the lens fitting, people will know

I got mine from Evo, Cambridge layout.

It is H4 HiLo 4300k. Unlike most other kits Iv seen this is more yellow and less white.

You know my office, come anytime after dark to check it out

Could not get the PDF, but got this link which talks about the various types of bulbs: Osram Philips Bosch - H1 H4 H7 - Auto Lamp Headlight Bulbs Images

Use the above and check with your bulb to know what type it is.

Hope this is what you were searching for.

if its the same bulb for high and low its most likely an h4. i think your scorpio would be h4. go to any car accessory shop or the place where you are getting your bulbs fitted and they will be able to tell you the size.

Question

Ok, now I'm thoroughly confused.
Went through this thread to find the bulb model of the fog lights of the Sx4 and the Swifts.
Initially, realised both were H8. Then I saw people using H7s and H11s in the place of the H8 bulbs. How???
More importantly, to change the bulbs of the Sx4 and Swift fog lights to HIDs what bulb models do I look around for?
(Getting them from a Non-Indian source, hence need to specific)
Thanks in advance.

Correct. H8 is the OEM bulbs from Maruti for fogs.

H7 - Not a proper fit. Its 'jugaad'
H11 - This is the Swift OEM bulbs overseas from Suzuki. H8/H11 are interchangeable. I suspect H11 will be a better fit than H8, Im waiting for a pair from the dealer.

H8, since thats the OEM. It will fit directly in the slot but you will still need to tap power from the original wiring for the ballast.

Also to save you some money let me say getting HID's in the fogs doesnt offer a significant benefit for the swift/sx4.

Cool, thanks alot for the info.
Yea, I'm not really expecting it to be really brilliant, but since I'm already 4300K Bixenons as headlights, the yellow beam from the fogs is slightly off putting to the eyes. But in any case, I dont really get such good lighting from the fogs.
