Above all this, bulbs blowing in 1 month's time is not the way it should be. I see your initial post says you changed the relay to Bosch, but no wiring change??

The culprit has been detected!

EDIT: Just realised, I hope the Narvas you bought are not fake are they? Check with another set of bulbs.
Ankit.. With the new relay i had also got the wiring changed, But dont know what happened. And as far as the Narvas are concerned i always buy stuff from my friend who is very well known in the circle for his audio installs and the stuff he sells. But might have been a bad product sale from the market to him. But not thrice right? Nevrmind.. I am not going to play with the lights anymore and cant live without the Type-r's as they compliment my strobes.

I have personally used Narvas in the past before I shifted to Philips Rally. There is a misconception that Philips is Rallye, but Philips trademark is 'Rally'. 'Rallye' is a trademark from Hella stable. Anyways,Narvas are pretty decent bulbs with good illumination but I somehow felt that Philips Rally bulbs are better with longer lifespan.I still have a couple of pairs of Narvas. IMO,the wiring harness and the relays are very important as well as the electrician/mechanic who is doing it.Keep a close watch and don't let him do any short cut with the electricals of your car.
Best of Luck Nikibusa

Anything more powerful in halogens would then be 130/100 bulbs mated with very good wiring + relay + holders. The effect of the heat on the headlamp/reflectors is what one can not be sure of.

Best bet after-wards, is to get a pair of HIDs. Even the cheaper Chinese one's will be brighter than halogen.

The Philips Xtreme Power bulbs are not brighter than the Philips 100/90 W bulbs. A higher wattage bulbs indicates better illumination. The Xtreme Power bulbs however are the brightest performing bulbs in the 60/55 W bulbs range.

i had purchased Philips Rally 130/100 for my swift from the Motor plaza, trivandrum, kerala 4 months back. They had installed relay and wiring also.Relay was from TVS. Yesterday it got fused. Now i changed back to the company fitted headlights.
So is the Philips rally series head lamps not that good.
As a matter of fact it generated lot of heat and my holders started melting. It was only seen when the mechanic opened the holders to change the bulbs. The mechanic also told me that 130/100 bulbs cannot be fitted on swift since the company doesn't recommend that.

So now i want a new pair of bulbs.I am little bit concerned about the holders also.So what headlights would you all recommend with respect to the current situations.
May be i should go for 100/90 bulbs right?

+1 to that.

Philips Xtreme are 80% brighter (as claimed) but in the 55/60W bracket.

Bulbs which are forced to produce more light than their normal wattage have a shorter life span.

Did you change your holders when you got the TVS wiring + relay done? Is it designed for handling 100/130 W of power?

You may have experienced a blown bulb due to faulty/inadequate wiring or fake bulbs or hand touched etc etc.. I suggest you get a Bosch wiring kit and relay which comes with Bakelite holders. Your 100/130 Philips bulbs will not cause the holders to melt. Since you have not mentioned any problem with the headlamp assembly / reflectors, I suggest you do this.

Have been using Philips Rally 100/90 for last 2-3 years and only once I had problem of a bulb fuse. Other then that no issues at all. Enough light for all my travels at night on the highway. If you feel that the 100/90 is not enough for you then get the headlight throw checked and align/focus them properly. Most of the time the culprit of bad light is the bad throw then the light itself.

+2. The Xtreme Power bulbs are brighter than the normal 55/60 bulbs, but nowhere close to 90/100 ones. I used Xtreme on my Lancer previously, and switched to 90/100 (Philips Rally) bulbs sometime back. The improvement was substantial.
