whenever downgrading to lower wattage bulbs 90/100 to 50/60 , always change the fuses to original rating, the one which you were using with stock bulbs. you can always find out by looking in the car fuse box. put the stated fuses in the aftermarket wiring kit.

Change fuses? Why? You should never change fuses while upgrading or downgrading. The Fuse change route is wrong. Always use original fuses.
If you go to higher power bulbs, get relay and wiring done.
This way your original wiring and fuses do not have to be changed and the relay takes the entire current.

whenever we upgrade the headlight wiring to install 90/100 watt bulbs , the wiring comes with built in fuse holder. the fuse used in it is capable of taking the load of two 90/100 watt bulbs. if you look at the wiring , you can see that power supply is taken directly from battery . if such kit doesnt have a fuse, then it is dangerous( it has ti be a fake or nalla kit). a short in this wiring can blow up your baby someday.
so when putting back 50/60 bulbs in such wiring the fuse installed in kit is of double the power handling capacity. lowering it to the stock value will ensure that they blow up as per design requirements.

Thanks Akshay.

Its got good spread. was it a lot of effort to upgrade the relay etc to handle the 100/90? did you go in for ceramic relays?

smoking is a matter of personal choice, and i think it gives a mean streak to the car

the above one looks awesome, man gotta make a visit to milan subway and find out if these are available

roughly they would cost about 10 - 12 K right?? can someone throw 'light' on this?

Default Placed order today

Hi NK,

Read your post with great interest as I had been looking to buy a good replacement for the stock bulbs for my Chevy Aveo.

Have placed an order this afternoon with Autolamps Online for a pair of H4 X-treme +80% bulbs.

Incidentally, did you face any issues with Indian Customs etc?

These might be expensive at $40 a pair, but if you need powerful lighting like you say in your post, these are worth looking at. Also, try Philips HID,Philips Visionplus,Philips BlueVision,Philips DiamondVision, Philips Power2night and GE HID,GE Megalightplus, GE Euroblue sold by the industry experts Autolamps offers free shipping anywhere in the world. I got a pair delivered with in 2 weeks of placing the order.

Default No reply from Autopal

Hi Indian,

Nopes, no reply from Autopal. Didn't contact the GM guys either. I have a feeling they will not be able to shed any light on this either!

However on Googling, I came across loads of posts from the US where people are trying to DEACTIVATE their DRLs which come as standard on the 2007 Aveo. Seems that DRLs are still not mandatory in the US, but GM will not sell most cars without them, and are actually lobbying the US transport authorities to make them mandatory! Funny position isn't it?
